Earlier GNOMES and KDEs imitated Windows. One thing Windows did right was the Taskbar. It is, in all seriousness, an extremely good metaphor. It separates the acts of launching programs from managing which ones are running, because, dammit, those are different things.

I agree with the first part. I utterly disagree with the second part.

The taskbar contains only one entry for programs (in general). I have made my own (with XFCE) and have them sore

I also do not need the rest of the taskbar. I do not close or minimize programs. I have multiple desktops. Some with one program full screen, some with several next to each other. The programs are there when I login. That is also the reason I dont want any icons on my desktop. I can't get to them anyway as there are programs running.

To have remote access and that is the easiest way to do it. A leased line would be better.

The reason to have it remotely is the same reason why access to some banks is done off premises. If there is a hostile situation, you still have control of those doors.

The National Bank in Antwerp has a two-door entry. The second door only opens when the first door is closed. The person to control the door is not on site. So if he sees that I want to enter and he does not want me to, he can't be physically be forced to do so.

I also assume that there is not one person who controls that door and there will be protocols as what to do in what situation.

getting access to the person onsite might be possible. Offsite is a whole different layer.

You start with hating and that is a bad thing.

There is always Apple, Google, your government, your little sister, your parents, your neighbors.
There are a lot of people and companies you can hate.

Hate is an emotional thing, not a rational one. It takes away the ability to be objective and that is the reason why it is a bad thing.

I know plenty of people who hate Germans, solely on what they heard they did and this includes people who were born now. I know people who hate all Americans and those who hate Jews or progress or pollution or anything that you can come up with.

It is the people who dislike or disagree with things that are able to do the changes. People that hate don't..

And that is why hate is a bad thing. So you are right in saying not having anything to hate is a good thing. However to be able to do that, you must remove the hate, not the object of your hate. Because then it will be replaced with something else to hate.

The result of the test STILL had little girls favoring dollies with bright colors, and boys favoring machines and soldier type toys, even when very carefully imposed gender neutrality parenting was in effect, even from very young ages.
This is somewhat reinforced by more modern research into the physiological differences between male and female nervous systems.

Some background information that explains this.
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2008/dec/16/play
Ona program I saw (probably BBC) they showed once what happened when they let a person play with a kid. Different people where told that the kid was male or female. What happend was that the adult was picking the toys to let the kid play with.

So conditioning of the gender specific toys is done by the adults. I and this is done from pre-birth on. Blue for boys. Pink for girls. And not only the parents will have influence on this. Grandma buying the toys for the kid will be an influence as well.

I personally do not think this is a bad thing. It worked for thousands (or 6.000 if you wish) of years, so why change? Just to be PC?
