I have friends whose speed is 10 times what I have. They all laugh about my speed when we compare and then I tell them that I have this all the time 24/7 and no need to buy extra bandwith because I exceeded some random number in down/up load.
Also I have no ports blocked, fixed IP and no P2P throttling. Things they don't have. Price is about the same.

Yet even though they complain all the time about the data limit, none wants to change. They happily buy extra, even though the company advertises that there is no limit. The limit is decided by 1.5 times the average usage of users. And nobody knows what that will be at any moment. Fun. (Oh, it is per area, so if you live in an area with lots of students, you can download more then if all are retired people.)

So speed is not the only factor.

In hindsight AdBlock solves these kind of things. However I am sure that most people who use AdBlock just do not want to see ads. Not even the standard 1 banner we used to have.

People do not like ads, even though they understand why they are there.

When the ads come up on TV, I do not go "Oh, I will watch them, so I do not need to pay more for TV", I go channel hopping. I have subscribed to robinsonist.be so people will not send me snail-mail advertisement. I have a sticker that clearly states that I do not want folders in my mailbox. I use AdBlock and a hosts file to not see ads online.

So even if there would be only text ads served by the domain I went to itself, I would still try to get rid of ads.

And people wonder why companies have so much power.

rest assured that all these companies would lobby Parliment to change the laws so that this decision ends up just how they like it. e.g. companies have free speech and can link. Individuals MUST work hard, increase production, prevent accidents and be happy.
