Reminds me when I went top school. It was an hour on a bike, an hour by bus and an hour by car.

I also had to be at home at 18:00 and no excuse that I did not have a watch.

And after I came back from school I styyill played outside, regardless of the weather. Yes, I did come home often with some bloody knee or the like. Yes I broke some things on my body while doing that. Trying to hide a broken toe because you jumped out of a window did not work as well as I would think.

And now I live in a time when they want to block any and all traffic near schools. I say: fuck it and let Darwin sort it out. In only a few hundred generations, we will have superfast kids that can avoid all dangerous situation. And if you do not beleiev in Darwin: well it is God's will after all.

Voting with your wallet only works if there are alternatives and if it would actually change anything.

e.g. if there is a big, huge outcry because a company does something that the general public does not want (e.g. child labour, appartheid, ...) then it might work and change policies. If you, as an individual do it, they do not care.

So what if they do not have a few thousand customers that are not buying their stuff. There are enough who do. The other companiessee this and do the same.

The fact that I do NOT want to change the bootloader does not mean I do not want the right to do so.

Seriosuly. I remember the time I was able to run anything I liked and not have everything installed twice. It should not matter if I runKDE, Gnome, XFCE, Whatever programs on any desktop I desire. The reason I use XFCE is becuase it needs the least of tweaking to get it how I like it the most (although still not perfect)

You used to have different programs for different things. Now you have a kernel, that tries to do everything, running a bootloader, that tries to do everything, so I can launch a desktop launcher that tries to do everything, so I can see a desktop, that tries to do everything, so I can run a browser, that tries to do everything to visit a webpage that tries to do everything.

It is indeed something that is a lot bigger. Especially hwo things are now.
You have 400 working hours for 10 people. You get a robot to reduce workload 50% Instead of having people work 20 hours per week instead of 40, 5 people will be fired, so they have no income. The others have the same income and the one at the top will get the extra income normally for the 5 others.

Well, in reality they will fire at lkeast 1 more to pay for the machine and then ask the 4 others to work 25% for free to cover the one they fired as an extra.

I would rather have a new story altogether. Of all the movies I liked Rogue One the best. Story was a bit flaky. I would call it a high quality B-movie.
It started with the beginning where they have these flying things and park them at the other side of the universe and walk the rest.
And then the thing they need to access outside at the top of a building. Seriously?
And still I think it was the best of all of them.

But then if I want a good story, I would read "I am Legend" and not watch it. (Because, fuck, they raped the story.)

OTOH I am still waiting for "Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season", because that looked promising. (I liked the first one where his friend is chatting up a girl and he walk away with it and everybody thought the third guy was a douche. How do you like THEM apples.)

The reason is because that way they sell more phones in the long run. Why?
You buy a phone and it gets you through the day and a bit. Batteries go bad. That is a given. They do not hold their charge as good. So at a certain moment you do not get a day and a bit, but a day. Next you get the period you are awake and recharge when you are sleeping.
At some point you will either be charging a lot or you buy a new phone. Now YOU might not do that. The majority of people will. When you sell a shitload of phones, having people buy a new phone sooner means s shitload of extra money.

It would not be that hard to make a phone the size and battery capacity of a power bank that lasts you several days.

Not being able to replace the battery is just part of it.
