And The Satanic Verses. It is truly a masterpiece. Not at all what I tought before I started reading it.
''To be born again,' sang Gibreel Farishta tumbling from the heavens, 'first you have to die. Ho ji! Ho ji! To land upon the bosomy earth, first one needs to fly. Tat-taa! Taka-thun! How to ever smile again, if first you won't cry? How to win the darling's love, mister, without a sigh? Baba, if you want to get born again . ..' Just before dawn one winter's morning, New Year's Day or thereabouts, two real, full-grown, living men fell from a great height, twenty-nine thousand and two feet, towards the English Channel, without benefit of parachutes or wings, out of a clear sky.
'I tell you, you must die, I tell you, I tell you,' and thusly and so beneath a moon of alabaster until a loud cry crossed the night, 'To the devil with your tunes,' the words hanging crystalline in the iced white night, 'in the movies you only mimed to playback singers, so spare me these infernal noises now.'
Gibreel, the tuneless soloist, had been cavorting in moonlight as he sang his impromptu gazal, swimming in air, butterfly-stroke, breast-stroke, bunching himself into a ball, spreadeagling himself against the almost-infinity of the almost-dawn, adopting heraldic postures, rampant, couchant, pitting levity against gravity. Now he rolled happily towards the sardonic voice. 'Ohe, Salad baba, it's you, too good. What-ho, old Chumch.' At which the other, a fastidious shadow falling headfirst in a grey suit with all the jacket buttons done up, arms by his sides, taking for granted the improbability of the bowler hat on his head, pulled a nickname-hater's face. 'Hey, Spoono,' Gibreel yelled, eliciting a second inverted wince, 'Proper London, bhai! Here we come! Those bastards down there won't know what hit them. Meteor or lightning or vengeance of God. Out of thin air, baby. Dharrraaammm! Wham, na? What an entrance, yaar. I swear: splat.'
Out of thin air: a big bang, followed by falling stars. A universal beginnlng, a miniature echo of the birth of time... the jumbo jet Bostan, Flight A 1-420, blew apart without any warning high above the great, rotting, beautiful, snow-white, illuminated city, Mahagonny, Babylon, Alphaville. But Gibreel has already named it, I mustn't interfere: Proper London, capital of Vilayet, winked blinked nodded in the night. While at Himalayan height a brief and premature sun burst into the powdery January air, a blip vanished from radar screens, and the thin air was full of bodies, descending from the Everest of the catastrophe to the milky paleness of the sea.
IMHO NetBSD's rc-system works really well here (Used by FreeBSD nowadays too).
Simple and effective - and no symlinks all over the place like in SysV. It automagically orders services. If foo needs bar bar is started before foo.
And I see now that it is what OpenRC is... or atleast was.
There are many more m68k platforms supported by NetBSD.
The full list: amiga, atari, cesfic, hp300, luna68k, mac68k, mvme68k, news68k, next68k, sun3 and x68k.
Not a real machine but Briel Computers sell (kit or assembled) a "mini replica" of the Altair 8800. The i8080 CPU is emulated with an ATmega but you get the front with LEDs and switches. With a add-on card it can even run CP/M.:)
He also sells the Replica 1 (Apple 1 clone) and Micro-KIM (MOS KIM-1 clone). They, however, use true 6502 processors. http://www.brielcomputers.com/wordpress/
3583 bytes free actually.
And as far as I can recall the Super Expander gave you 3k, not 3000 bytes. Look at this VIC-20 demo. Try to do that on your paltry ZX81!
The VIC-20 had lots of stuff the ZX81 did not have. A proper keyboard, color graphics, disk drive(s), sound, a real video chip so the processor didn't have to draw the screen (that's why you can either run a program or have screen output. Welcome to the blinking screen!) The only good thing (IMO) about the ZX81 was the cheap, cheap price, otherwise it was a pretty awful machine.
Here is a short presentation with some purty graphs comparing NetBSD 4.0, NetBSD 5.0, Linux and FreeBSD 7.1. http://www.netbsd.org/~ad/50/img0.html Done by Andrew Doran, one of the most prolific NetBSD developers.
Well, the C64 only had C= Basic V2 which would fit in a 8kb ROM. That was one of the reasons they put it in the C64. Other C= machines (even earlier ones) had better basic... but of course it was bigger than 8kb. The Commodore 128 had V7 (the last released, the prototype C65 aka C64DX had V10). V7 was actually very nice, albeit a bit slow for i 1MHz machine.
I think the deal with MS was that they could improve the interpreter without paying royalties after V1, which would mean that Commodore is one of the few companies that put one over MS.
This one from the NetBSD 3com driver is fun to. From the manual page: ep0: 3c509 in test mode. Erase pencil mark! This means that someone has scribbled with pencil in the test area on the card. Erase the pencil mark and reboot. (This is not a joke).

Homeopathy: a system of alternative medicine
No, not alternative medicine. Alternative TO medicine.
No. "You can still walk, drink three more drinks.

Yeah, but Seth Putnam is dead.

Yes! Although today many of us use JiffyDOS instead. Compatible with more software than most other speeders. And plenty fast too. :)

So... I guess you had a kid on May 17:th of this year? :)
Close. WiiII.
Wow, that's a really old pic of AKB48. Like, half of those girls are no longer members.
Yeah, try that in Solaris and watch all processes die...
killall is used by shutdown(1M) to kill all active processes not directly related to the shutdown procedure.
Use pkill(1).
Seriously - you believe the phrase "it's not you, it's me" ever spared anyone's feelings?
It's not you, it's me. I don't like you!
I find that statement a lot more honest (and funny),
Another good thing - It runs NetBSD!

Surely you jest!
It actually had two character sets. Upper case and graphic characters. The other was lower case and upper case.
Elaborate, please.

#!/usr/bin/env bash
should work as long as bash is installed.
The only reason I install it (as a NetBSD user) is because netpbm requires it.
Besides. It's not the relatives of the victim who gets to deicide the punishment. (And thank $DEITY for that!)
