i concure, my 4x drive from my old p1 133mmx is still kicking it strong! sure beats these 40x or 32x i got, i dont need speed to be honest, i can wait 12 minutes to install freebsd. of course installing it in 1m20s is always a bonus, but this way i can make some food and come back
keep your friends close and your enemies in your wallet.
china & india care for money too much, we'll see what happends in the next few years. *bling* *bling*
i am in china, i can visit most sites just not all, access speeds have slowed to a crawl, china telecom blames an increase in users, i doubt that, a drop from 30kbs on a single socket down to 1-2kbs, seems a bit ridiculas in just one year, hey i've still got next year to look forward to!
but its not just china, look at france and germany working with google to *help the end user* get the right search results. (previous slashdot artical)
"A study recently released by the Institute for Family Computing revealed that the top three uses of cryptography were for 1) "terrorist-related activity" 2) pedophillia and 3) drug abuse. In fact as far as I can tell, no legitimate use was on the top ten at all!"
Legitimate use would be 1 to keep nosy people like you out, legitimate use would be to protect from forgery and identity fraud. legitimate use would be to protect your creditcard details when you buy online. and there are plenty more, its not just about keeping snoops out but also identity. so your "as far as I can tell, no legitimate use was on the top ten at all!" is incorrect.
think outside the box, not just whats on the inside
let me share my chinese net, i my net is fine to share to anyone who wants to get tion without paying astronomical fees.
dont worry they wont know!
yep its a bitch when slashdot gets blocked in china! if i can't get my morning slashdot i go mad!
in my apartment in china i can have on one heater and some lights before the circuit trips, so does this mean i have to sacrifice my heater or lights for this service?
you should see when i switch on the microwave! oh and they wont install a bigger breaker as the apartment building isn't up to snuff
can i tax them for: viewing my website
can i tax them for: looking at my popups?
can i tax them for: downloading my email from their server?
can i tax them for: sending me an email?
can i tax them for: reading my words on slashdot?
can i tax them for: receiving my bits of bytes of information directly at their server?
can i tax them for: their voip traffic going across my network?
shit, i'd be rich if i could! look out bill here i come!
i blog (log) my thoughts in an attempt to share them with others who might have a more insightful point of view, and in the end these are for me and not for you mr german.
i was just about to read the da vinci code but hmm i might just not blog it instead so others out their wont know about it.
i havnt checked yet as i dont have irc access from this computer but does this have any reason the domain is still in his name and probably bittorrent trading going on?

Removing the international routes for networks that spam will cause a massive change in what those ISPs believe in.
this isn't true, many do this for china, i have complained many of times to my isp and yet they do nothing. most people would suggest to switch isps, pretty funny that china has one isp.
well find an isp in china who is up for fighting spam and tell me where they are, i have the biggest issues with this, seems everyones answer is to just block everyone, what if you get your ips from the isp? and that there is only one isp in the country (3rd largest at that)?
what i'm saying is its the bad few that FUCK IT UP for the rest of us. but yeah something has to be done, i use spam filtering and it catches most, but i cant set it to delete as most of my comunications come from people in china.
ehm shouldn't they shut the spammer down and not the server?
yeah so, get a laptop and carry it with you, oh and buy a cheap bike not a car, no one will steal it. and if your smart you'll put your money and cards in your socks to stop them from being stollen, oh and use other peopls wireless access points so you don't have to worry about anyone stealing yours.
i own one, would never buy one again, yes they have a p4mobile processor in them, and a 16.1" screen and alot of other shit. but it gets to hot and the battery only lasts for 55minutes after owning it for 4 months, and even less when you turn up the brightness of the screen. i don't have the extra battery as the laptop is already heavy enough. these bulky machines preform well under pressure and when only plugged in, but walk away from your wall socket and your meetings had better not be longer than 30minutes!
you'll have to look at the benifits china is offering to forign companies, huge tax breaks, hear-no-evil-see-no-evil policy and great venues for parties,.. i actually just crashed the shanghai Oracle party on sunday the 18 at the top of the portman (shanghai center) and they had good food! (bbq'd), lots of wine flowing and some crappy woman on a musial instrument. but other than that, china is offering alot of nice treats. but they have along way to go before they can live up to their promises!
can your country offer such bonuses and at the same time, cheap labour? i didn't think so
you and your corporation suck,
you suck the most.
you are Hitler with 'the' aids.
still can't access it from within china today
well i tried to read the artical on yahoo news, but can't see the body content, good one china! google is going to have a fun time. location: shanghai

seems like the mpaa and riaa can go after them since they invented the internet as it is today.
