They already have one. Of course if the buyer is connected they can get it waived.

The point is, China is already fighting a trade war and has been for decades.

No thanks. I'll just keep not seeing them. Yeah, not seeing them, that's the ticket.

I'm really disappointed with Scottish pirates. Trainspotting 2 has been in release in Scotland for weeks and there are no torrents on piratebay.

  5. They are in the boneyard for a reason. If anything, you keep the airworthy but old ones running longer. No shortage there.

Boeing still does much better than new entrants have. See the Japanese and Chinese efforts to make their own wide bodies.

I'm surprised Tupolev isn't trying to get a bigger slice. But first they have to get competitive on fuel costs.

Nobody is turning on a dime and jumping into the market.

  7. The 'non-partisan' redistricting in CA is partisan, just like in every other state. Democrats run this state and have for decades. Nothing republicans want, gets done here.

Add the cost of an extra gate at each stop plus an extra crew plus higher passenger*mile cost. Dealbreaker.

Airlines need to get their fleet mix right for their market, or they go broke.

Long leed times and a historic boom/bust cycle. Large airplanes are contracted years ahead of time. Keeping the line running is paramount. Start/stop is a company and/or model killer.

Some will go/remain fully 'religious nuts' like creationists/commune dwellers. No disputing that.

Outside small enclaves of similarly minded nuts, how much influence do you think creationists/marxists have?

The worst they can do it influence things like grade school textbooks (by fanatical persistence). Which is, in fact, good bullshit detection training for growing kids. If a kid can't spot a commie/creationist by now, (s)he is likely too dumb to matter anyhow. The world will continue to need ditch diggers.

  13. They had it in the past, when the current structure was built. IIRC 21 was the old cutoff. They often used to require freshmen to live in dorms and had crazy rules.

Halfway houses in the sense that they are being treated 'halfway' like adults. LImited responsibilities and freedoms.

  14. In India? Lookup 'Judgement proof'.

I was going to add that it didn't apply to all Indians, but the ones with money can buy judges, so it really does.

  15. I don't know what you pay for full coverage, for most people it's almost as much as the car payment. Plus it doesn't end until the car is cheap enough that people drop to liability only, does get cheaper as the car value goes down.

I've got decades with no tickets or accidents. My insurance is about 1/10 the price of insurance for someone with a DUI.

Suppose someone buys the lifetime insurance then acts really stupid. Do you really think the insurance company is going to continue covering them under the initial insurance coverage?

  18. Computers are _much_ cheaper and easier to maintain now vs 30 years ago.

Growth in Student populations has meant that the average student is less qualified, takes more remedial classes and is more likely to get a 'certificate of attendance' degree.

  22. What?

Not having the schools in charge of living arrangements does nothing to solve the problem of colleges creating unreal bubbles for their students?

Living off campus further reduces the authority of the schools. Now they can only build 'safe spaces' around classrooms. No more _stupid_ 'no alcohol', 'no guns', 'no saying mean things' in people's living spaces. If someone wants to live in an all female or all black environment all they have to do is make it happen. Eliminating the pernicious effect of having schools run discriminatory housing for only some classes of people. Freedom of association is restored. Women have got to love having sorority 'sisters' with 'five o'clock shadow' and 'man hands'.

Off campus frats are universally the crazy ones. Which is a good thing. They deal with real consequences, but not campus bullshit. Assuming you are an adult, would you tolerate typical 21st century campus rules in your house?

  23. Colleges are no longer 'in loco parentis'. They should just end 'campus living' and let the kids get on with growing up. No more dorms, no more on campus greeks. They're 18 or older, let them 'play adult' in an apartment.

Too much effort into making colleges 'halfway houses' for children. Costs a fortune for the school and gets them mixed up in things they aren't qualified or have the authority to handle.
