I wonder what Microsoft and TiVo will say about this idiotic legislature. Besides, aren't all cable signal "analog" to begin with? So by definition, all digital cable boxes will be outlawed? After all, digital cable boxes are nothing more than RT box, a dumb down "PC".

What makes me tick about this law is that this method of "content protection" isn't to protect content, but to protect "interest" of those who provides content. Meaning, to protect copyright contents which gets to be distributed, lets get rid of ALL "RECORD" buttons since we all know ALL RECORD buttons are to steal their precious "content".

  6. Brain Wash: Predictable Market Trend on Music Should Be Heard But Not Understood · · Score: 1

It may be just some lyrics offline by big music publishing company, but to me, it sounds like a conspiracy. By exploiting part of human nature, curiosity, with repeated exposure, the music industry grasps little bit more control over what you hear and see later desire/consume.

Perhaps "brainwash" may sound bit harsh word for this, but that's exactly how you'd brainwash someone. Repeating words that does not make sense, reducing subjective thoughts and contradictory/unpredictable behavior, supressing comprehension and inducing confusion and doubts in order to turn that person into more submissive/subceptable mental state which can be easily manipulated and controlled.

The entertainment and music/publishing/media industry does this all the time to control market trend. I'm not sure about its morality, but surely it's legal as long as their method stays passive.

I am 100% all for this guy to stop what he's doing, but there is more to than just less spam in our inbox if this guy goes away.

"Last year, Michigan lawmakers passed legislation that allows parents to put their children's e-mail addresses on do-not-spam lists. Even though he insists he doesn't target kids, Ralsky was an inspiration for the bills."

I'm more afraid of legislature crafting the legal system to catchup to one guy. I mean, this is more freightening thought. No matter how bad this ex-convict asswipe deserves it, our legal system cannot just craft a law in order to make an example out of single case. I am not an expert on law, but shouldn't our legislature think abroad especially when considering this isn't local or state, but FBI, federal enforcement agency is to enact and enforce such ideal?

I'm sure, a lot smarter people than I, thought this law through before passing it, but I'm sorry, I can't justify supporting a law which is crafted to make an example out of one man's action on Federal level. This sounds too close to persecution and walking on really thin line here.

For my purpose, I think, if there was a BIOS flip switch, it would have been worth investment. However there isn't (if I'm wrong on this, correction is welcome), so it's just a fancy board with swappable processor which is fairly easy with any ATX casing with swappable motherboard plane without unscrewing bolts and wire works if such thing exists.
