you think you're joking, but i remember an exploit in some picture decoding library. Add this to automatically opening the files and decoding the picture when _opening the directory that holds it_, whoa, there is perspective!
You're right, kind of. I think the problem is that we the lack sufficient imagination for this kind of thing. We don't waste time sitting and thinking about what kind of crap will they come up with - we accept obvious things as obvious. Ten years ago I would laugh my ass off when someone tells me about this. Today, should we start a preemptive strike, buy ads in the Times declaring that the Earth _is_ round? And even, if we did that, they maybe could come up with something more loco.
Are you british? And the first thing starts to poke your eye is BG becoming a knight? How about the knighthood itself? The lords? The queen? The monarchy? Are these doesn't bother you? I was always amased by the otherwise civilised and respectable brits and their thing with the kingdom. Care to explain a bit?
well, if we thinking this way, then the whole thing is stupid. Who cares if we can run ls or not after a successful rm -rf / ? Issuing rm -rf / is not an everyday activity, so if you do that, you might as well be avare of the possibility of echo *.
who are those "all people" who think homosexuality and women's right to abortation (as oppesed to stupid religius male's right to prohibit abortation) is immoral? There are people outside your church. There are people outside the republican party. Heck, there is even a world outside the US!
Before posting, you could check the facts, smarty. Yes, echo is a shell builtin in the shells I cared to check (bash and tcsh):
szo@x:~/tmp$ export PATH="" szo@x:~/tmp$ ls -bash: ls: No such file or directory szo@x:~/tmp$ echo * bla szo@x:~/tmp$/usr/bin/tcsh x:~/tmp> ls ls: Command not found. x:~/tmp> echo * bla x:~/tmp>
the existence of/bin/echo doesn't mean that it's not a builtin also. Apology accepted.
He notes that "dir" is a built-in and "ls" is an external, so he could get a directory in windoz, but not on linux. Thats wrong, he could have used "echo *" on linux to get the directory listing.
What is "the authorized machine"? Can't I use my iPod (that I don't have yet) anywhere I like? And people actually buying this crap? How is this better than any other mp3 player that acts as an USB stick without any stupid DRM and other restrictions? What does iPod offer that makes people to put up with DRM?
How about: they won't bring Office to Linux because there aren't enough potential customers to justify the cost of the port?
With winelib, it should not be that hard, I don't think they would have to 'port' it to X, recompiling with winelib would be enough. And of course, release the neccessery winelib fixes to the community:)

slow down there! Just becouse you see your religius nuts from closer, don't think the catholics are _any_ better. They're not.
and now learned about the third scool, called 1.5: keep everything, then when subpoemed, delete the relevant ones.
If you liked Catan and Carcasson, you should really check out Tikal.

I only have to say: up yours, nokia.

Holy crap, he could be my father! As in, he was born the exact same day as my father...

We're talking about the scene when Gandalf sends him away ("Saruman, your staff has broken")

In that case you learned something today :)

it's 13TB, not 3TB. Which is according to the article: "over 13 terabytes of memory - the world's largest memory capacity"

Meaning it's pretty and cool? So wrap shit in chocolate and people will buy it. Seeing this in action would make Milo Mindbinder weep in envy.
