As I said, I don't necessarily believe Judge White is the proper or final judge for this case.

He's just trying to save face by reversing his previous injunction, yet retaining jurisdiction. I don't support his jurisdiction, and actually quite agree that it is not a case for the US judicial system at all.

I am reminded of Dale Carnegie's leadership principle #5 in How to Win Friends & Influence People:

"Let the other person save face."

Seems like Judge White's actions are flawed, yet human. How surprising!

Yes, Judge White was "gamed" by BJB into imposing the original injunction. I simply maintain that this was caused by the fraudulent bank's overly-aggressive initial legal activities, /not/ due to a blatently dishonest and incompetent judge.

I fully agree it is possible that Judge White is not the proper or final judge for this case. I'm only saying he /seems/ to have made an "honest" mistake and has taken the appropriate steps to apoligize and rectify.

Maybe the judge is a big, fat liar. I don't know, although I would like to hope he isn't.

I think it's clear that WikiLeaks was practicing "non-violent resistance" in this case. Of course, that's probably their policy for dealing with such situations, as they have doubtless encountered before.

Regardless, it is obviously unjust to assume guilt in a case of passive resistance against aggressive persecution from a (seemingly) fraudulent entity. Thus, Judge White dissolved the injunction and the litigation shall ensue.

I suppose WikiLeaks' behavior is fairly logical considering the nature of their cause and the extreme prejudice of this particular corporation. I'm just glad that 10+ freedom-loving lawyers were/are willing to step up to bat on their side.

  6. an honest judge on Wikileaks Gets Domain Back, Injunction Dissolved · · Score: 5, Insightful

Judge White seems to have made appropriate decisions, as he only passed the original injunction because of the (purposefully unfair) timing of the court date leading to an under-represented WikiLeaks. He says that his subsequent review of the case revealed the obvious conflict with free speech rights, and has reversed the injunction so WikiLeaks can get its domain back.

The main point to take away is that they still have to go through litigation, as this just removes the injunction against WikiLeaks' primary US domain name.

This is just the same old "gateway crime" argument, which, if history is any example, will inevitably be scientifically proven false by statistical studies showing (perhaps a correlation, but) no causation.

All agressive prosecutors (persecutors?) will fall back on this precept when it starts to become clear the "crime" they're fighting against is victimless and thus shouldn't be considered a crime at all.

I find this is mostly caused by greed and ignorance on the part of the persecuting party and any agencies they employ in their unethical battle.

Obviously this won't make very good tires or shoes if it permanently deforms over time.

So I guess they're going to have to find some complementary substrate that can be mixed in with the self-mending rubber to give it:

    1) more short-term elasticity
    2) more long-term form retention
    3) higher durability

I'm thinking something like small chunks of normal'ish rubber mixed in with the self-mending rubber in a ratio/manner that maximizes the healing properties while minimizing the weakness and other drawbacks.

Of course, if it's true that you can create self-healing rubber by removing the ionic and covalent bonds, leaving only the hydrogen bonds, my next question is obvious:

How many times can this material "heal" itself before suffering internal structure deficiencies?

If it could mend itself an infinite number of times and retain perfect structural integrity, that would truly be a modern miracle of science with untold practical applications.

Can you say self-mending tires, shoe soles, etc?

Eclipse was built from scratch as a one-size-fits-none IDE solution. The only way to ensure that all developers had exactly what they wanted, regardless of languages or platforms, was to make everything from the editor frontends to the compiler backends as modular as possible. This means you can replace any and all aspects of Eclipse with custom plugins if you so choose.

As far as Visual Studio already doing everything "out of the box", I already noted that Visual SlickEdit does the same. My argument is that community-supported Free & Open Source Software solutions a superior IDE make.

I've been using Eclipse for quite some time now, and must say that it's by far the best IDE I've ever had the pleasure of operating. Because of superior modularity, I can use different Plugins to simultaneously edit projects in C++, Perl, and Fortran with full syntax highlighting and real-time error checking. This saves alot of time in recompiling your apps!!!

The most important thing to me in moving to Eclipse was that it would fully support the Vi command set. There were several different Vi-type plugin options available, but after trying them all I ended up using the only commercial download of the bunch, which was availble for $20 here:

    http://satokar.com/viplugin/

The only other IDE I've ever found that was acceptable before Eclipse was Visual SlickEdit, which had most of the same features as Eclipse but was very expensive and didn't have the F&OSS plugin community of Eclipse.

Now that I'm into Eclipse, I don't think I'll ever look back!
