Personally, I still prefer Logitech's mice. They're durable...
The only MS product that I can't live without is One Note (and happens to be the only product from MS that I like and use willingly). But we're talking 2005 here...MS's too busy with Vista, Xbox 360 and thinking of ways to topple Google that it's not spending enough time to do much else;)
CNN: Breaking news on the War on *new disease name of choice* - more than 50% of the population in NYC is currently quarantined, thanks to the new mobile tracking system...
Seriously, it's not like if you inform them, they will automatically and volunteerly go into quarantine. That's one of the major issues when SARS striked. Most people that should be quarantined still went to work because their bosses will fire their @ss if they don't. And nevermind the decisions made by health officials here in Toronto. If you look at Asia, take Taiwan for example. The Gov official closed off a hospital specifically to contain all those who have serious symptoms of SARS, and all of the cases are redirected there. This greatly decreased the chances of contracting the disease when seeking medical help for other stuff. Looking back to TO, they didn't even consider that option. People go to the hospital for a twisted ankle, next thing they know, they're being quarantined. The system was not effective at all, and many people, especially the health professionals, got sick because of that.
My favorite Lego sets have always been the Kinetics set (the ones with the gears and pullies and blocks with holes). Those would've been so much more fun if I had a Mindstorm set...
When I look at Mindstorm, it's anyone's first step into programmable machines and robotics. It's actually how they teach some Mechanical Engineering and Systems Design Courses at school. It's an extremely versitile tool for learning. The Science/Engineering summer camp that the faculty runs, some age groups have extensive portions of the week focused on Mindstorms, and the kids loves it.
I admit that there may not be too much profit to marketing the set commercially, but to give it up entirely, I think a lot of benefits would be lost.
As a constant user of online journals at school, I can honestly say that majority of the journals that my school subscribe to has an online counterpart, and the school has even cancelled some paper publication. I live in Canada, and in the winter, I TOTALLY appreciate the fact that 90% of the journal articles that I need is available online.
Of course this is a bit different from the free journals online, but really, free journals, unless explicitly said that it is peer-reviewed, which is unlikely, cannot be the sole source of information for any well written paper. Researchers, libraries, etc. will still subscribe to journals, simply because of reliability.
Everyone at the day and age knows about copyright. journals, whether they are published online as a pdf or on paper, are copyrighted. Therefore, only the publisher and the author have the right to put them online anyways. It does seem that Royal Scientists are confusing this with free publication that appear online.
Have to agree with you... I have no sympathy for ppl who have no entreprenueral spirit.
Having done a lot of web design myself, half the time when you're stuck, it's a choice between: flipping through 3 manuals/handbook all describing your problem with no real solutions, searching online for hours for someone who knows anything about it, and going to a place like OSWD where there is already a solution that you can use. And it's not like those grab-N-go code is really that easy to use either... they very often conflict with existing code (which means you may need to mod either your existing template to fit the code, or the grab-N-go code to fit your template).
Most web designer recycle their code/stylesheet/scripts anyways - it's there already! why bother changing it if it doesn't need change?
In today's market, especially NA, there are too many things being out-sourced. If you can't think of new, unique ways of improving the process, or be someone who cannot be replaced in your field, then you WILL be replaced sooner or later, by out-sourcing or by automation. It's the natural evolution of technology - if there is a way to do it cheaper and/or better, it'll happen.
Well......that depends on what you want to do up here. Montreal is your party town, best bars/pubs/clubs in Canada. Toronto...... best for business/work and just pure convenience. Vancouver has of course, no snow! but then the rain is not that much better (except for it does not rust your car).
Well......First of all, does downloading kill people directly? NO! There's your fundamental difference.
And of course, gun companies, to sell more guns, would likely encourage people to buy guns for "self protection" (ie, kill others before they kill you)...... Have you seen an ISP encouraging people to "illegally" download music to drive business?
Uh...... From the way that Windows handles links...... It looks symbolic to me. Just not the same way that *nix consider symbolic. Hard links are what Windows don't have. (and probably don't need, as it would probably make a lot of users cry)
I know what you mean. It'd be really nice if each computer has just one directory for all of the plugins. The stupid network at school trys to install a whole bunch of plugins (mostly useless too,) to my profile every single time I start Netscape at a terminal that I've never used before...... It's really damn annoying.
Tho this standardized web plugin would be really sweet...... maybe quicktime movies will start to play properly on my computer now.
Shame on you man.....shame on you...
Your Canadian citizenship is therefore revoked, and you shall now be shipped to *elsewhere* (fill in name of country)...
Since when are people innocent until proven guilty? Guilty until proven innocent is more like it. The US government set the example for all to follow......
Plus, who's gonna bother with the court cases? spend $400 on a fine of $100.....not economical. There is of course the time loss at work because of court......
WTF are you talking 'bout?
just got mine yesterday, and i have to say......google's had it right...
my personal favorite being the ability to group mail, and that the replys back & forth between two persons actually appears together...... no more looking through 200 emails to find that original...
...or shall we say of goldfish and dolphins?
(and just because they have more neurons/body mass doesn't mean they know how to use it. just look at the US government.)
Personally, I still prefer Logitech's mice. They're durable...

Wait....didn't the NDP just tried to push a x'mas election?!?!? This "law" is not going to get passed any time soon... my finger's crossed.
