Us vegans might just say it's damned disgusting anyway. Not all of us started because of the cruelty problem (although most agree with it). In my opinion the shit tastes nasty and isn't fit for consumption. Seems like most hardcore meat enthusiasts would believe that about cloned muscle fiber too ("it just doesn't taste right").
yah.. BUT
Nintendo is notorius for taking an old concept and revamping. They may be putting this controller out but how many of you are going to bet on them releasing 10 more mario games, 10 more kirby games, and any other gob-zillion themes that they have proven-true to public appeal. I think we can mostly agree, it's getting OLD.
Our governments are just shooting down the competition from the international space station. I'm thinking this stems from Reagan and the space planetary defense network plan.
I've been waiting for a year since the dish 512 came out for someone to get into this. I've wanted to take the stuff off this hard drive from day one. It's gotta be encoded in some really simple format. Let me tell you guys (and i dont work for dish, this isn't a shameless plug) but this thing is godly to have around. I come home at the end of the day and have a full list of stuff -i- want to watch. It interfaces perfectly with the guide that's -already there- and there's zero programming to it. Hell my mom can even use it perfectly without hours of training (for once). Now, if only there were a good way to hack into it already.. maybe put a nic on it and transfer stuff directly to my other hds... *dreams* But hey, maybe this little player will open those doors.
Oh yah, one more thing. Immune to this DRM and "red flags" crap that tivo seems to be updating to. And if it does, there's a handy "turn off updates" feature!!
Any ideas out there how to make a brand new, decentralized massively wireless network that can't be attacked by **aa? We're going to need to break from this commercialism-controlled net eventually if we want to keep our freedom of speech/and/or content...
hahah.. you called it.. i used to manage one.. Talk about ripoff artists
Worst part is the company is still growing due to this consumer elitism attitude they've adopted.
Don't get your hopes up on this actually making it in some form to the consumer market. Those wonderful little double-a batteries you buy constantly have a huge upcharge on them. That's why when you go to any electronics store (I typically saw a $9 price slapped on a cost of $1.40) you'll ALWAYS get asked if you want to buy their brand of way overpriced batteries, no matter what the product is. These things make businesses profit, they will keep the old style as long as they have a breath left in them.
Apparently you need something better than slackware version 1.
Mandriva Installation: Put install dvd in drive. Turn on Computer. Ignore computer. Dvd installs basic common components -automatically-. (Windows has yet to include this by default). Anything else you need is freely available in the form of RPM's. Most programs also update themselves. Most hardware drivers are also included (where is my laptop nic driver, MS??). Things like firefox and java and most of the other commonly used windows programs are one-click executables. Everything else just requires you to RTFM for 3 steps, something I'm sure you've never done in your life.
How I get quake 3 and any other game working? Gee. 1) Install Cedega. 2) Play game. Wow, that was hard. I think I'll go back to playing counterstrike on my linux box. And there will be a bot with your name on it running around.
Yah, but as always, eye candy = throw performance into the crapper
Seems like they do this just so they keep the sales going to the higher end systems.. aint it grand
Canadians purchase over 30 million Slurpees every year The average Slurpee drinker age is 29 years Manitoba is the "Slurpee Capital" of the world for the fifth year in a row (2003)! The 7-Eleven stores in Manitoba sell an average of 8,300 Slurpee drinks per store each month, compared to the national monthly rate of 5,900 and provincial rate of 7,200,which makes this Province the world leader in Slurpee sales. The top five Slurpee cities are:
1. Winnipeg
2. Calgary
3. Regina
4. Detroit
5. Edmonton The frozen carbonated beverage was first invented in 1959 by a Kansas hamburger stand owner. Using an automobile air conditioner, he created a sophisticated piece of equipment that would freeze a carbonated soft drink and serve it in a sherbet-like form that could be sipped through a straw. To get that uniquely Slurpee consistency, each Slurpee machine has a compact refrigeration system that mixes syrup, carbon dioxide and water under pressure in a freezing chamber. Slurpees are served at -3C (or 28F) 7-Eleven(r) began selling Slurpee, then called Icee, in its stores in the United States in 1965
Hey, aren't elves supposed to live *forever* and breed almost never? Arent vulcans too now that I'm thinking about it? Welcome, Lord of the Rings and/or Startrek!!
Gee, doesn't that make you feel oh-so-safe for our upcoming space travel (many lifetimes ahead of us)... "a large group of hidden black holes."
pot holes of the universe? You think driving is bad *now*...
Ipod isnt the end-all by any means. I for one have my eye on anything archos, like : http://www.archos.com/products/overview/av700_tech _specs.html The 40 gig AV700, with full video recording and playback and built in lcd. Archos has been around WAY longer than ipod and their products are SOLID and accessories are generic (read, not $50 each). People jump on ipod because its apple, and that's all. Its about the same when you try to describe to a mac user how they're wasting their time with their computer:P
Cept for one problem: Cell phones are the WORST for hitting you with the "fair use" tome. I used to sell sprint cells and the coordinator told us specifically to watch for people who are using it only for that purpose and strongly recommend against using it for that purpose because the company would shut them off with "too much use" on an "unlimited" plan.
See, that's horrid. *66* patches? 66 downloads of probably-huge programming that should've been in the released version. What a waste of time, and bandwidth. With firefox, you're working perfectly out of the box.
Maybe that's exactly what we should do, mr former us marine anonymous coward. Their problems are their own. The US is *not* law enforcement for the rest of the world. We're not being paid to do so (aside from our leaders own resource scrounging). The people of iraq need to deal with their own problems. Why don't you stop the senseless following of a government most military haven't even gone through college to research for one moment to figure out the US is in shambles because of this? We have problems with cost of living, employment; healthcare is going to be a *luxury* in the next ten years the way things are going, and the government wont stop funnelling money to *offensive* military and *space exploration* for gods sakes (which gives us NO immediate and probably zero longterm benefit either). It's retarded, much like hiding behind an anonymous coward nick. There was never a threat to the US to begin with. Hell, the political leaders tried *so* hard to make us believe the 9-11 event caused the iraqi invasion which it had NOTHING to do with.
Blind military following plus flaming is *not* what this country needs if it wants to stay away from being the target of the next WW.
I'm not usually so blunt, but Mods, please check the context before you mod me down.
Um, let's see. When the "war" was over, the US soldiers were posted around the fuel stations and depots, *not* around the US embassy where you'd think they'd be needed quite a bit more.
"remove the threat of sadaam" - there was no threat. No weapons. All researched thoroughly before anything happened. It was a damned excuse to invade so the public would support his decision.
I dunno if Bush would go for it. After all, I'm not sure if there's oil to conquest in Iran (like the only reason there was a "war" -read, slaughter- in Iraq)? We gotta find an excuse for the monkey to cash in on it, first.
I think a country needs to "liberate" itself. The US had numerous bloody wars to get to the point to where its at. If enough people are against a topic in a country, they need to overthrow the powers that be themselves, that's all there is to it. Same thing goes to the whole "woman being battered" in a few of the middle eastern countries. Sure, I think its wrong, like anyone. But that's *my* belief, not necessarily theirs. These people have a whole set of beliefs that they have, too. They've been living with it for quite a long time. If a number of people wish to change things, they must do it *themselves*, not rely on the support of a country halfway around the globe that should be taking care of its own problems instead of spending billions overseas. If they do it right, they'll change things for the better and the beliefs just might stay around for awhile.
Alright, here's my take. I've only been using Linux really seriously for the past month, so pardon my newbism if you wouldn't mind. - I WANT A GUI There's no excuse not to have gui on programs. I have to get into the command line practically any time I want to install something that isn't on the Mandrake cd's. Syntaxes are hard to decypher sometimes, even when you're really good at RTFM (which I've been doing religiously to get through this). - Make everything *everything* install on a COMMON ground. Rpm's are wonderful, but NOT when every single distro has their own way of doing stuff. We need to have a base that everyone comforms to, and keep it that way. Standards are the relaxation of frusteration. Oh, and I NEVER want to hit./configure and./make again, as they never seem to work perfect, especially for the older programs. In Windows, you almost NEVER have to anymore. Double click setup.exe now, and it's cross compatible in most newer operating systems. - As of the OS install issue everyone's been talking about, it isn't. At least, not when you use the system mandrake uses. True, I've been really frusterated in the past at setups (esp redhat that doesn't detect half my hardware), but with mandrake I did a boot from the CD and, after some intermediate partition managing through the GUI, got it running 99.9% automatic. - The gaming features will be nice, but those will come. Cedega and Wine need to be more universal and easier to configure and diagnose when there's problems. Do that and you'll have HORDES of windows users coming over. That's the biggest fear I hear from them right now.
Good idea to have an article on custom gadgets. PC mods can be found everywhere, however. Batteries for those small devices should be more of a concern these days as they *do* eat through them like mad. When it comes down to it, all you need are some cells and some resistors to regulate the power, but it'd be nice if someone started a little how-to section for each individual device. The cryogenic mouse is neat.. not extremely practical I'm afraid. I'm sure someone will start making them commercially now that./ has its hands on it. With these sorts of articles, I like to see extreme stuff. Anti-gravitational engines, that sort of thing.

Am I the only one who said "how about we NOT give the 'advertisers' ideas about this one" the first time i saw it? :P
