I get a similar position with my job. Whenever we get a "why doesn't this work", we have to be careful to explain it in a way that sounds good, BUT does not mention possible fixes (work-arounds, hacks). Because we know they will assume that the mentioned fixes will be assumed to be implemented, tested, working yet somehow without taking away from the existing priorities of getting it working properly in the first place!

I'm not American, so I can't say how much of a real impact something like this has, but I wonder if this recent rise of very conservative religious fundamentalism in the USA and efforts to stop the presentation of things that contradict their view might not lead to the USA eventually falling beind in key sciences, and, as a consquence, losing its edge in the world of technology.

What do you mean, falling behind in key sciences? Military spending is up, is there any science more important then that? After all, any historian will tell you that war has been a driving factor for all major technological advances! The spear? The musket? Artillery?

Or in my case, WinXP with decoration turned off. But, I bet once you click it, it does launch a pop-up, which would work for most users (Oh, a dialog box, click ok). In fact, since it's right over the main content, your pretty much required to click on it and get the pop-up, just to use the site.

How damn rude! I never used the site, but if a site I do use does that, they will lose a customer!

Although I'll suggest you mean "if the meaning doesn't get corrupted", since expecting reproduction word-for-word both ways means the problem would be so simple, it'd be done by now, since it would just be substitution.

I try to give a message to advertisers, by not blocking Google Ad's. Yes, they are ad's, and they are not annoyance free, but they are SO much better then flashy GIF's or Flash animations or pop-up-under-over-around windows, that I'm willing to put up with them in the hope that advertisers will notice they are more effective at reaching their audience, and switch.

Knowing advertisers though, its a forlorn hope. Should they notice they are more effective, they will just start using plain-text ads AS WELL AS their existing annoying techniques.
