I would protest with my money if i could but alas i am stuck with comcast so i am for this lawsuit, although it will probably cause other problems, because i don't want them just cutting my traffic off when i pay an arm and a leg every month for it and because i want to use what i pay for.

I know spying on everyone in America is probably a fun hobby for him and all his NSA buddies, but is he making money on this somehow? I know he's probably profiting somehow on this (though indirectly) i just don't see the connection.

On a side note, if the judge doesn't throw out this request to stop the case and allow the EFF to sue AT&T then we can all kiss our asses goodbye. The US is just like an airplane, the terrorests shot a hole through one of the windows which we put some duct tape over (though air is still leaking out) and Bush is using "cabin decompression" as an excuse to crash the plane into the ground because we "need to lose altitude to breathe" while AT&T is recording every call from the plane to make sure there aren't any more terrorists on the plane.

It's not going to matter what you do if AT&T isn't held responsible and the NSA keeps getting away with recording everything. The plane is going to crash eventually, i just hope there are some survivors that remembered the freedom and privacy our forefathers were talking about when they created the constitution(and i hope i'm one of them).

It's a shame, July 4th will mark the US' 230th birthday (1776-2006) and in the last 30 years we've let the government take away more and more rights that we spent the previous 200 years fighting for.

I could see a preview pane being most helpful because you could possibly even answer your question by just googling, and not have to visit the site (possibly with coding: syntax errors and the like). I know this would reduce traffic to sites somewhat (at least for me), though i think it would help everyone filter their results even more to provide more pages with the content they want and being able to weed out those link farm pages, as well as ones that don't nessecarily fit the problem your looking for.

  19. Re:What happened to the free market? on Sorting Through the Analog to Digital TV Mess · · Score: 1

I couldn't find the post that made me want to find this and post it, but this is as good a place as any...

There are 2 things here that everyone is trying roll up into one ginormous problem.

Number 1 is the elimination of the ANALOG broadcast spectrum.
Number 2 is the conversion to DIGITAL television.

Now from what the article says it looks like the analog portion of the public (free) broadcast system is what is going to dissapear. And if anyone read the article they would have noticed this quote:

Roughly 20 million of those soon-to-be-obsolete sets are in homes where people don't subscribe to cable or satellite. The other 50 million or so are in pay TV homes, and used as second, third or fourth sets. Sets hooked up to cable or satellite services should work fine no matter what.

So... Anyone already on Satellite or Cable (or other type of tv service) service that does't depend on the analog broadcast spectrum, it's business as usual. You don't even have to get an hd tv, or digital converter box or any of that bs.

The only ones who will require anything at all, are disadvantaged people who can't afford a new "digital" tv and can't afford a service like cable or satellite.

I'm not trying to be all high and mighty, but before we all think that (as the parent seems to) our tv's are no longer worth anything and we might as well junk them, you might want to just investigate the problem. Not sayin i'm 100% right either, and if i'm wrong please correct me.

i'd have to agree, our company is still a small business and there is still a lot of trust between the owner and all of us employee types. We are all very dedicated to expanding the company due to the rewards we all receive based on the success of the business. I've only been there a year but have had quite a few bonuses come my way "just because" we reached a milestone as a company (like 50 clients, a new record monthly income, etc...). our main attraction happens to be a foosball (foozball or however the hell you spell it) table, a projector with dvd player, and a mini putting green in our office.

We all play regularly, as well as haing movie days where we watch a movie once a month and have pizza for lunch. The company also pays for a night out about once a month where we all go to the pool hall across the way and have a few beers and play pool, the only female employee even get's into it!!

Our company has also seen an exponential growth over the last 2 years, going from roughly 20 clients to over 125 recently, most of it not only comes from our desire to be the best at what we do, our outstanding customer satisfaction, or refferals from our customers, but because our work environment happens to be so forgiving. One of my co-workers actually brought in a remote control motorcycle that we all took turns running around the office for about a half hour...

Though foosball hppens to be our favorite pastime recently, veryone enjoys themselves most thouroughly playing a few games a day, as well as sparking some friendly competition (amazingly enough the boss man gets the most pissed off when he looses, slamming the rods that hold the players into the sides of the table and even kicking the entire table once :) fun boss to have though!!!) We are even developing an internal website to track the statistics and see how good (or bad) we are all doing.
