I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible is going to happen, annually.
There is a fundamental arrogance in believing that nothing is beyond one's own understanding.
I think there's a fundamental arrogance in believing in an afterlife. People can't comprehend that they will cease to exist. From this comes the need to believe in a deity and/or an afterlife. I'd like to be wrong, and I'm open to the idea, but I don't think I am. YMMV, etc.
If you read the list of ingredients in many herbal/green tea blends, there's usually a "Nature identical flavour" listed. That's the marketing spun name for synthetic flavours that are chemically identical to the natural extract version of a flavour.
People still have the same aversion to synthetic versions of natural things, even if they are chemically identical. I take great pleasure in pointing out the nature identical flavour component to ignorant unaware tea drinkers who think natural is better.
You should read Moving Mars by Greg Bear. Humans discover an information theory for the universe, and how to tweak "particle descriptors" to change the properties of matter, including it's location.
I fly RC quite a lot, and it's not uncommon for birds of prey, gulls and magpies to attack model planes. Magpies, especially when broody and you are near their nest, will attack relentlessly. A mate has a plane that's shaped and painted to look like a hawk, and he reckons he gets twice as many attacks when flying it compared with his more conventional rigs.
So I wonder what the lifespan of these things will be?
But that's not the same as saying it's junk for eukaryotes.
Why are locusts allowed when other insects aren't?
Datura is a hell of a drug. I saw a few people tripping on it back in the day, and it's nasty stuff.
Once you know what it looks like, you notice it's grown all over the place as a decorative plant.
Well that's a load of crap. There is a degree of anti-intellectualism in N.Z, but it's nothing to do with Kiwi ingenuity.
So the mining bot herds aren't running a miner that credits a pool account? They are actively trying to subvert the block chain?
Exactly. At least turn on TLS. It's far from perfect, but it's a good start.
So, bad drivers, the ones who get in accidents don't just use cell phones, they drive more wrecklessly...
I'd have thought bad drivers would be less wreckless? When did this conversation get all nautical anyway?
Sounds like our R&D department. "The dumbest smart people" I call them.
Want some food? I'm your best friend.
Play time? I'm your best friend.
Any other time? FU, GTFO
I love 'em :-)
The Zombieland pilot was mildly amusing. I'll probably watch a couple more to see how it's going to develop.

As usual, Stephen Colbert gets to the truthiness of the rush to be first.

In my experience, alcohol and a good wingman can help you make the transition.
The best collective noun for Glass users I've heard so far - Glassholes :-)

So far I do not think google has sued anyone, but who knows how long that record will last.
Really? A quick search with Google (ha!) finds:

Nah, they'll start designing a watch two years after Apple releases one.
Was your great-great-grandfather private Doughboy Ernie Coolidge, by any chance?

...but if they really find me playing Angry Birds in the buff that exciting who am I to deprive them of their entertainment?
Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your webcam.
"It's Big Brother, sort of, but with a good intent"
Isn't it always? Who or what defines "good"?
Most mail systems support forced TLS.
Seeing how this is a DNS reflection attack, getting rid of open DNS resolvers would be a good long term solution. I'm not holding my breath though.
