This is all about the allocation of resources. You might think that going to the moon is worthy -- if so, pay for it yourself -- don't come to my door with a gun to collect the resources (taxes) you need to do so.

There is value in people performing short term arbitrage -- it is what determines the security's price. Derivatives are valuable too in allowing companies to shed all risk except that which they can control.

Be careful of jumping to conclusions without fully educating yourself -- these are not simple concepts.

You are right. Just bury your head in your island's soil and hope everything will be ok. I'm serious -- that is an option for you.

The US was attacked by terrorists. Historically, we don't get attacked by terrorists very often and guess what -- we don't like it. The rest of the world has become accustomed to terrorism -- learned to live with it. I guarantee we will never be content with frequent terrorism. How you can be is beyond me, but hey -- enjoy your outback. Alternatively, you can do something about it. Like Americans do.

I'm not asking for a thank-you -- just grow a backbone. Clue in: the terrorists would have eventually blown up Bali because your women don't wear burkas. Thankfully your government is smart enough to understand the importance of the war in Iraq and, such as it has, supported it.

I can't agree. I think people should be free to express their opinion as they see fit. If they don't want to vote, they shouldn't be forced to. Why encourage people who know nothing about the election to randomly vote? Encouraging civic responsibility is great -- forcing people to go to the polls and punch the left hand column is bad.
