We are getting closer and closer to that movie Total Recall....where they live inside a dome, built on the ground (in this case to keep the methane in)....I just wonder where those big martian built rods are located that will slowly bore into the ground and return the atmosphere to Mars....:P
Hey....what about all our rights to have private phone conversations coming from the outside, but are made by our relatives that do live in this country but are visiting outside, using this argument, anyone outside the border be them American or not, are subject to eavesdropping, where as in our own backyard, that is not the case. So next time a big CEO is visiting Cairo and calls home, he can now be eavesdropped as it is now outside traffic coming in....this might be the problem???
I was talking about the guy that did the overall project, unless HE is from florida, in which case, I would ask why does the electric bill he shows become so high during the winter months.
back in the day...red hat7.0, mandrake7.0, would all boot within about 5 to 10 seconds... maybe its all the add ins these days to stay competitive to M$???
I can't wait for someone to....hack into the system, and change the info to reflect that all rich people pay extra 10% and all poor people pay a 10% less, that would be a very nice hack!
Funny, I think it should be obvious to him alone why he should not use such a device. If everywhere you go, you need a secure line to talk to someone, or a cell, then you use that... the blackberry is for people that have constantly people nagging them with emails and text messages, he will have someone do filtering on that for him, to know what he should be spending his precious time on,....I see people all day on a blackberry, without ever accomplishing real work, yet it now becomes obvious it takes up too much time in their day for them to be productive.
I don't see the president having time to do any blackberrying. I can see him sending a text message to his wife or kids to tell them he misses them, that would be ok, but the truth is, aside from that, if someone knows you have a blackberry, they will use that first to contact you, and his day will be spent with every politician using that to contact him , instead of the regular filtered channels.
Its not even a security issue, more then it is a productive one. Ok for family, but everything else nay!
You could try to make a 1 meg attachment, and that could be the zip file containing all the text to all your friends in sms format, that could be sent to a central server, that ends up sending your text messages all at once.
This of course would have to be done, although I think the software already exists on sourceforge
You know the part where they put some black gunk in a canister, and then someone comes to the fridge and opens it up thinking its some sort of soup, and the stuff latches unto his face, and then you see Venom swinging from the roof tops.......wait, I might have to dust off my spiderman outfit.
Well, let's test your memory then....I remember my Dad bringing in the first laptop (briefcase model) from work to do some lotus notes at home, and work out a full corporate payroll scheme for the warehouse. He worked on that thing for week ends at a time, all in the name of keeping track of hours and know what they owed the people that worked for them.
Now tell me, when I can get my 12 year old with his psp to open up OpenOffice, and create all the same stuff, adding hours, creating formuleas,... We tend to bitch about stuff as if it was the worst, but as long as I can get my stuff done, and keeping a level head about what I used to be able to do , compared to what I can now do, I tend to still be very happy, with windows xp pro, or red hat, on my p3 laptop...
And anyone (at home) that needs more then this is lying to you (unless they work from home using a vpn).
I don't think VMWare should even be mentioned in here, I know the product, and how much clients rely on it...for those that do....I can tell you it will not be one of the bankrupt companies of 2009.
McAfee yes cuz they suck, Symantec no, cuz they got too many other things going on... Juniper yes... as salesforce and maybe even citrix...although doubtful.. Novell, well we know the story.. Checkpoint, wait Ill have to check and get back to you on that one... AMD, the only true competitor to Intel, doubtful again
How do they need to be trained, if they already have computers in their offices (which most do now anyways) there is no extra training needed, the software does the conversion of info into digital format, and you save it to a directory, simple no? What training, in case they need to write in hexidecimal the full value of the patients blood pressure?
I would think they would hold a gun to the guy who is doing time for writing the original code, and force him to hit the enter key to send the command to dismantle the botnet, and thereby making HIM responsible for criminal activity of undoing the botnet.
He wrote the original, and now he would face charges for making things right, and then some....that would be justice!
Ummmmm...... close but no cigar, the answer we were looking for was actually "Van Wilder"....yeah....sorry, the answer was Van Wilder....but stick around....after the break we will show clips of what a camel with no humps looks like!!!
The airlines will never admit to doing this once it has been many years that way they can keep bitching about the gas prices, and overcharge you until the day comes they will let it be known they have been flying for some time now. I doubt very much the price of tickets will go down just because they save money doing this.
Well, I agree to your first point, and not to the second, a hacker will do harm, a security specialist will not. I am true believer that this is Twitter's fault. If you leave your front door open, who is at fault, the person who walks in and takes your stereo, or you for leaving the door open (and I want to see the police man's face when you tell him).
If twitter had done a good job with reviewing their code AND training their employees...this would never have happened....on another note though, I doubt very much that high profile people such as Obama, would even have an account on there. Britney maybe, but Obama, please....these were probably accounts created by someone else, and they looked important enough to hack, but I doubt anything of value was found there.
If Britney was in touch with Timberlake having an affair, and used twitter to set up meetings or exchange info, I guess you could say someone got lucky, but the PR people for all celebrity stars are wise enough to teach their Hollywood paychecks not to post on public forums, without using code...
Good point, the donation would only be good if we could have a proper history of the person from which it belonged to, and a long extensive history of ailments or life patterns....sticking a shoe up your arse, won't interest anyone (not for science anyways)...but knowing that you drank 2 litres of diet pepsi a day for about 10 years , might actually have had effects on the brain.
So keep certain lines anonymous like maybe name address etc... but put down location (environment, pollution) health choices (works out at gym, runs everyday) and also food choices for knowing what the brain was being fed to survive and thrive.
Listen, hdd drives are a dime a dozen, i would just buy case and keep my own, and go buy another used one from a shop somehwere, and get rid of it, with its different hdd rather then let mine go if i was that paranoid...but I know how to do a bit to bit wipe on my hdd, maybe some others should learn too?

I thought that was the point, it IS like a small boewulf cluster ....of 3

You know , I think he could have spent some money on insulation with that, so he didnt lose so much heat during the winter! 400$ yikes!
Was that for competing a the national level?
"Hey Ronnie,..is that you?"

Keep him around once Skynet becomes self aware, we might need him!

If you only play WoW like me, you can do it on Linux to, end the Windows conspiracy now!
Goos for you, I always knew a work environment was smart enough to let its people use vmware, i just hope no one is booting knoppix cds in there...
