I tend to agree with your situation, however I was able to get my job from a headhunter, because of duplication....I walked into an interview that another head hunter company signed me up for...i forgot to sign the form for one of them, so then the employer got wind of it, and told me to figure out the problem, and who is representing me, with my apologies I told them there had been a mix up...but I am sure that because both were fighting so hard (yeah right....like sending some paper is really working hard)...it might have caused my employer to look at it like "hey this guys is in demand"...although I don't think all employers think that way...i might just have gotten lucky.
I prefer this to lets say the package to help the big car companies. The problem there with giving over 750 billion dollars, is that you have no more control on how it is used. But offer every person owning a car to have a trade in program of value of their car + 10000$... this means they WILL be buying a car very soon in order to get that money. This stimulates the car industry in keeping the flow of production. The other way around, you have no one buying cars, and the big wigs give themselves a bonus, people pay out of their taxes with nothing in return, where as a bonus like this is paid by the tax payer but GOES to the taxpayer.
I did the math...if let's say you take the 250 million people in the US, and say half are kids... you are down to 125 million, and of that you have only half of that that have licensed cars... 75 million * 10000 bonus for buying a new car (american made of course).... then WOW you have 750 billion dollars....I prefer anything that gives back to the people instead of the companies.
I find it ironic though that all supreme court judges have to be approved by the president....so this means that even though this guys shook Bushes hand, he isn't doing him any favors.....is irony not the best of all medicines
They should get some of those russkies to bring a few viruses and let them free in the cabin to see if they get sick out in space, and how long it takes to recover from it.... maybe some ebola and the like...
I would laugh so hard if this was actually an American led movement to unearth all those extremists that use this sort of thing to help propagate more hate...and then shut them down.
They never intended for the program to last anyways...they thought it would make the bill pass faster if there was some sort of compensation, and when it was passed,....like all politicians promises....the program vanishes into thin air, and we are left with having to upgrade all our tvs, radios, computers, cars...etc....the big consumer machine continues to grow.
I had the same problem, when I saw a few of the other students work suddenly appearing on places like sourceforge, with people slightly changing code (naming conventions) but then you would have to say that this is a small price to pay to learn what you need to know. I followed this rule to a tee...
1- Kept my projects short and sweet to get the credit...and always tried to involve something in my project that I would need for my "real" project. 2- Described in short what I wanted to do, with slight differences on things I already knew, that way when it came to understanding the core of the logic, the person would have a hard time really knowing what I was working on. 3- Beat them to the punch, as much as I don't like sourceforge, too many rules for using your own code...etc....I do thank the stars they offer a package where I can upload my project for some to see(those i say is permissible) and gives me a level of protection for my source code.
I wish you luck, as this is only as good as the person getting their project to work. If you must, ask them to sign a disclosure form, that they can legally grade you without you losing your work. If they really isn't anything worth while...they will sign it, if they think they might want to keep it, they say no...then you know to change your project to something smaller less like what u r trying to accomplish and more like a regular average Joe project.
I am very honored to have passed a few good "teachers" not only in life, but especially in computing. I am a software developer, and tend to think that my main advantage was a great teacher....he had the patience unparalleled by others. He also had a teaching style that made anyone learn what he taught. He knew how to read his student's learning style and adapt his teaching style accordingly.
He went on to bigger things, but always gave me the want to better myself and also to better my comp skills. Knowing so many things about computers is a certain responsibility, like driving a car or airplane, they can be used to create major damage in society, whether you fly into a tower, crash into another car, or wipe someone's credit out....it can be viewed as the same responsibility.
The best thing to do is to try and talk to "these" people as they are special, as I was, only need a few good triggers to spawn a new better , more evolved genius that does see the rights and wrongs of society and life in general.
He may have been misguided, but still is responsible for his actions. Just like the man who molests a kid, because his father before him did...makes you understand why, but not accept it as ok. He does some time, then comes back into a community where he can offer his consulting services to those who need it.
This is why I have multiple computer as at home. The ones that do the pirating off movies I want to view, or download the torrent, are on the internet separately from the computer that has all my info...if I like something and want to keep it...use a usb to transfer it to the other computer without touching the internet. The only thing they might get is a history of what websites i viewed or my latest download. Aside from that, I wipe everything down, and use a nice lemon cleaner after I am finished with my keyboard to wipe all fingerprints....jk....or am I?
I agree, we are in the 21st century, able to review stats and also see what sort of plan the person is on, we could also put a cap on monthly charges, if it goes over 1000$ freeze the long distance and call me to let me know....so we can see if it is legit etc... So many possibilities, and yet they choose to be ignorant about this and act like they have no accountability. The big corporate giants giving one up the arse again to the small fry
Is it just me, or does this seem pretty sad, that so many of today's so called security companies, don't bother to contact the victims of this to at least tell them "Hey you might want to change your password to your online banking, someone stole it, or etc..."
I am dissapointed by our leading security community, for leaving these "dumps" in the open to review them, yes after a few days or weeks of activity,...ok, but then afterwards, contact the victims and let them know they have been compromised.
Trust me,it was an audit, of the biggest kind, necessary to call in his accountant and lawyer in on this, so I am sure it was an audit, whether looking for any means to pull off a quick blindfold over the eyes is a different story though.
I agree if a government has proof of wrong doing, they can come in and do what they want "for the good of the country". They had no proof, they were looking for it.
I doubt very much such is the case on a regular basis, you might be the exception to the rule. The IRS audited my uncle 6 years in a row, everything from his business to personal, he had to hire a lawyer, because it was harassment. Some noob on the job thought he would eventually find something, but each time nothing was "found out of place". Each year also, they had the balls to ask for the previous years audit info (like they didn't already have it). I am sure you have not had a REAL audit. The one you describe at the start seems pretty flimsy, when you compare having government officials rummaging through your house belongings to try and find stuff that was out of the ordinary.
Each time my uncle delt with it with patience thinking in the end it would pay off, but either red tape, or corporate BS made that he was a target next year. The supposed random selection is not random at all....so this proves. If you consider how much such an investigation costs the tax payers, especially when everything is on the up and up, you wonder who the moron in charge is when these things happen.
I tend to agree, it would not take much for the gas companies at the pump to replace one of their pumps to sell biodiesel instead of regular gas. Keep a whole container dedicated to that. So in essence, the speed of the conversion is not the problem, it is the proven demand, as well as the competitive pricing. Trust me, as soon as the big oil co.s get their hands on it, it will be as pricy as the regular gas. They just figured they could still make alot of money staying the way they were.
It would be such revenge to see an audit on the IRS with such scrupulous nature as that in itself, that the IFCC stop all communications from happening with the IRS until they took proper precautions, and were again given the stamp of approval.... although they themselves would not see the irony, everyone ever audited would sure think so!!!
Actually, I could see more like.... "The AC Carrier is approaching,Submerge!,Submerge" > You are trying to engage in a potentially dangerous act, cancel or allow "ALLOW!,ALLOW" > You do not possess proper permission for this action
Too often the people that are left to explain the problem in detail to the press are not the engineers that worked on the solution for that problem. If we had a discussion with one of them, we would hear a totally different story!
Funny how, they never mention about cutting back government spending inside its administration....replace old tired officials with newer less paid less experienced ones... like they do in real companies....oh wait that would leave quite the vacuum!
I swear it would be nice to get rid of many officials we don't need and make back those 5 million here or 5 million there.... then we could afford to pay for more roadwork
Who the hell came up with this list, I really don't see it, anyways to go with what I program, I guess i am dancing with the devil as we speak! Hail satan!
The problem stems from people trying to avoid what they should own up to....and when the lawyer saw "activity" on facebook, he knew he could legally server them this way, because they were purposefully avoiding being found. This I applause, not only did this show insight on the lawyer's part for knowing social networking on a computer, but also a show of the times changing. I tend to agree, if the presence is online, it is as real as in person , unless the facebook was someone else's account. ie - if i have an acount called xyz...and you "think" it is john doe, you would have to prove beyond a doubt the link between username and person, else you would breach a disclosure law, about giving away personal information to someone else, without verifying it was who it was supposed to be.
Actually I would agree having a "geek" review such postings and helping come up with better means for security, the problem is the third parties finding out who this person is ans sending bribes...all to often we see this happen in all walks of life....unless we come up with a cycling method, that nominates people based on their posts/comments, and makes it random enough that it wont know who is next to review the site.

This would work well in a place like China or India, where 1 billion people could do this, and cause a tidal wave...?

Some people have way to much time on their hands!
quite plausible, but unlikly in facebook's later stages (bringing in real experts)
of dealing with its problems
