I think its great that this happened, now we have a precedent that when one of us (hak0rs) wants to point out a flaw to the firm in question to force their patch or fix of it, this will help protect those people who would want to see better systems in place.
Now where is my credit card, i think I will want to show my cc company that it is very easy to commit fraud on their cards.....maybe Ill make it into a power point presentation too!
That is probable because so many officials are on the take to look the other way, that they are now left with a small corner of the room left to be able to "view" and the pedophiles didn't know how to hide that well...those cc fraudsters sure know how to pay them off good!
>This was true for neuroticism, openness, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and narcissism but not for extraversion.
The only reason for the last bit is purely because when confronted by a question about why they would choose such a extrovert name, they ran to avoid answering. This led the scientists to believe that these people were really introverts.
I am sure it just had to do with buying a bunch more of brand new routers, that weren't coming with pre-installed malwares from the chinese. They would have to replace all the router intfrastructure and that is probably what is costing this money. My 2 cents
I always think it would be better to keep it up there for spare parts when the space station is completed, seeing as the materials are already up there, anyone need a satelitte dish???
You would not want to anyways, where would they get the spare parts, when something broke, no one wants to admit it , but if at least 50% of the stuff being sent is good, then that means they will have a stock pile of changeable parts should anything get some sand inside...because we all know they have lots of sand there!
I agree, look at the bazillion dollars that WoW have made based on that new internet based model. No matter how hard you try to cheat, you can't, so you have to pay to play. Plain and simple, anyone still on the old system will fail.
WoW is a great game, and I am an avid fan, which hates to waste money on a game i already bought to play it, but it is so good, that I overlook this burden, and just try to lessen the game play to 2 months on, 2 months off...this way I don't go broke....or blind.
Yes it was, as when they tried to send Guido to the address listed at the registrar to get their cut of the profits, they couldn't find anyone, so they decided this was bad for business. They told their friends in the Italian oval office, and needless to say what they decided goes over there...
With this article to pop up now, http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/08/08/1155208 I would hate to think that M$ would even consider taking xp off the market so soon. Its the only thing still making them any money
I agree, I went into a comp store last weekend just to check, and the drive was 350$ on special, but the discs were 30$ a piece, that is outrageous! If you calculate the amount of money that costs just to say you can put it all on one disc.... it doesn't make sense...if they were to make it like 3$ a disc, I would be there tomorrow.
In china, blue ray production doesn't cost more then a buck a disc, but because we live in a world of let's squeeze money out of the consumer until he bleeds, then go to the next gen technology, we end up with people trying to charge us these prices, then when it doesn't respond they post on slashdot crying as we we were the reason for not wanting to buy the technology.
Ok, they brought it back, and these idiots think that it was safe as it had 2 passwords....tell you what, lend me your personal laptop, encrypted and everything, I will pop out the hdd and clone it in minutes, then bring it back before you had a change to do anything, then I will use VMWare to boot that drive and take as long as I need to hack into it, 'cuz now I have it at home....
Sh*t, some people should not own computers, just like some should not drive.
I also think we don't know the whole story, and that we may be hearing only pieces of why this is a story. Being a developer, I would love the chance to work for Arnie and help him do what he needs, however, also having 10 years experience in the field, I know that situations are rarely what the people make them out to be, so no comments, no flowcharts, and poor design, however, if this is the case, there is plenty of room for data transfers(i imagine that there is a db being used) for a new system, and that this new system can be one being used by another state, or even outsourced somewhere overseas.
I agree, it is sad that we are creatures of habit, do you think that guy who is suing responded only to that email alone. I am sure he isn't new at this, and if it is done to protect his wife, then hell yeah, I side for the defendant.
However, I am not sure how someone responding to an add let's say on lavalife or eHarmony would feel the same as everyone is now, I mean, this is the only guy to come forward???
So ok, he felt abused, but so what did you expect going to Craigslist and posting, might as well bid on Ebay....>....
seriously, what the hell is the internet coming to???
Care to share some of your code for this technique, as it seems very interesting, and short of doing it myself, if you already have done it, would be very practical. If interested just comment me back and maybe we can make a deal.
Actually i tend to disagree a bit with the car analogy not being good enough, let's say that like me you get into an accident, and that now your car is supposedly a total loss only because the insurance think its cheaper for them to just write the car off, but then you pay for those damages yourself, seeing as it would only be 1000$ out of your pocket, and this would be much less, then redoing a full leasing of a vehicle etc, etc.
Now you go to get your car reinstated as drivable, guess what it... isn't Ford that tells you you can't put rockets on your car, it's the dmv/caa which passes your inspections, that makes you follow a code set up by the gov. for cars (being the small weapons they are in society) to require a certain minimum of responsibility on your part to make sure it is road worthy.
Having rockets on your car, would make it unworthy, as it would not be tested for it to be road legal (hence tomahawk dodge bike not being able to be driven on the road normally, nor a nascar race car, although it is still a automobile, and the other a bike.
I tend to agree with you, that blizzard sucks for taking this stance, as they could have come up with something clever about maybe not allowing your characters to join a cheat free server if certain applications are installed on your computer. You want to cheat, then cheat on a cheat server.

No need for meat if we eat protein bars for protein, and the rest is veggies and carbs

Nice , very sweet, will have to test that on my own at home!

Assembler on Assembly Lines

Not if I have it triple redundant on hotmail and yahoo at the same time. Also make sure to have multiple accounts for each type of library

But libraries are becoming a thing of the past,
and this is just more proof that this day is coming quicker and quicker.
I think what he meant is on your pc with a PGP type encryption, then upload it into that email repository

I swear I saw another story like this one, about VMWare being used to test botnets, and being the perfect test environment for debugging etc., etc.
Sometimes, do we really need duplicates of stories only if we change the headlines.
I could see that happening, actually i think i did already in a movie , no?
