Having a good email is like having a good phone number. You can't beat it, no matter how good your work is, if you have a hard to remember phone no, then your sh*t out of luck, where as the guy that has 666 3636 will get more business then you only because of the phone number. As for emails, if you have your very own website (which looks just amazing) for what ever...a foundation for stray dogs, a portfolio for your websites, a guard on how to work properly, you get emails with that.com name, and that looks way more professional then your typical aol, or hotmail. If you write a boo, then use the free press email website they give you for your book, activate it, then you will be name@bookpress.com...which is even more professional because it makes you look directly tied into the book press you write for.
What's so wrong for a government to want to know who they can call on in case of cyber emergency? I know people are afraid of big brother now, but not everything is done out of fear or terrorism....sometimes doing a head count of a trade or career that can or is important to society is a good thing, else we would not have doctor's lawyers or engineers being asked to register to let the government know who they are.
I guess we could view this as a compliment to the IT industry being promoted to being important enough to warrant a head count. Just my opinion
Being a developer for 12 years I have had my share of them and thrid party add ons like infragistics or component one....as well as tdbgrid, I tend to shy away from third party as I hate being stuck with vendors more then I do m$.
I hate long winded hot bags that like the sound of their own voice, however if hotmail spam is a problem for M$, by forcing people to actually write emails, and turning off the auto replay, or maybe making it a pay per send scheme, you would get all those spammers out of hotmail business....this point does work, and I do agree, make it so easy for M$ to implement that they do it for the sake of looking good to their customers.
I myself never use auto reply, and never will...dont need to, but having it disabled would force whoever to move on from my account should it have been hacked, and I not know about it.
I was very closely following this project having know the project team lead and talked to him about different projects he had going for the library deal. I remember 8 years ago talking to him about how he was accomplishing the scanning part of it, he told me they even created their own scanning software.
Today I saw the coolest little gadget that some homebrew tinkerer made, covered on/. a month ago, don't have link sorry.... and he used 2 cheap cameras and a big ass metal frame meant to keep the book open and then flip the pages hydrolically...or something like that....this makes more sense and is much more cost effective for you and me....then use pdf to take all the images and place them in pdf format, voila!
Since then, I don't even want to bother hearing about this project, as I know it cost millions of software dev. and hardware creation, and this other guy did his under 1000$....goes to show, not because your are Goggle big, that you need to spend google big money to get the job done.
Once they said the word french prime minister, then I knew it was a scam to be able to just create more money to fill his own pockets with. France has some of the greediest mafia within its government, compared to even the US and other nations....italy being #1. Once I read this, I knew it was a ploy to justify taxes for xxx and then just filter even more money to their own pockets.
How would you explain such a lame excuse that makes no sense....yes we will tax the ADS so that people hurt by piracy will get some money back....newsflash, there is no AD PIRACY, only movie and music, so you will tax google for the fact that there is music and movie piracy going on, really, that makes absolutely no sense at all, come up with a better one then that!
I hate these politicians that cook up lame excuses knowing full well no one will ever see that money except their own accountants.
Seriously though, we are like a cancer to this planet. Whatever we touch, becomes unusable by the planet to be able to sustain life....to me that sounds a lot like cancer. Just wait, give mother nature time to adapt, she will figure out a way to extinguish her cancer soon enough.
>put in extra hours to solve a problem, make suggestions for improving processes, >and generally seek to play a key role in an organization
Why would I put more into a company, which does not pay bonuses anymore, even though they are making the highest profits ever, they use the crisis as an excuse not to pay bonuses or overtime that are due. Seriously, it's not just my company, but it is a global pandemic for the IT departments everywhere. As well, because of this, they place less importance on the IT budget, so when you do suggest something that might cost money, they say "not this year, or that's something we don't really need", even though it might save them more money in the long run.
Anyways, being a key role in the company does not happen unless they want you to become that key role. If they tend to keep you where you are, the only way to improve or move up is leave for another company.
I have talked about this design over and over, finally someone that has caught on to what I have been saying for the past 12 years. Since emails are possible to come from anyone, and usually can be spam, if they had to pay per email, however small the fee, it would leave a trail, and also cost money, so someone with a virus on their computer would get a bill stating they sent 1 million emails, guess what , they WILL do something about that damn virus on their computer...
Also, if the people paying to send out spam all of a sudden see a price hike for sending out spam that may cost more then they could receive from solicited sources (not real clients), then it would be essential to avoid this altogether to stay in business, then the spammers make even less money.
This is a business white list model that I think Google is trying to set up, if I am not mistaken, however I do not think they tend to include a pay per send email scheme.
More like the banks did not want to admit anything had been taken, so did not disclose that part, so no harm done right.....until the next bailout is needed!!!
If this what we have come down to to random test our security, and not let people know they are carrying potentially harmful goods, and also extremely criminal in offense, I would say I don't want to travel anymore. Police are there to protect, why don't THEY get undercover and see if they can get through their security. I hate hearing about abuse of power by government officials on their own people.
Who needs terrorists when we have this type of government to worry about!!
>Selected math chapters' (math analysis; vectors, euclidean space, differentials) The fact that vectors are in here, is great, and should be looked into, as well as anything with logical circuits and boolean algebra.
I once was able to use boolean algebra to create a flowchart of a regular conversation between 2 people (albeit it was in a controlled format) which lent much to analyzing people's responses based on their emotions at the time....sort of almost using words to figure out if they were telling the truth or not...(actually "and not"....get it...!)
The fact that they guy suggesting which course to take was not a hardcore programmer with years of exp. and many years of proof reading people's work or code. You can tell the real mathematicians when you read their code. Keep in mind, also that you are embarking upon a field which not only can totally enthrall you, but consume you as well, to the point of making you want to leave programming altogether.
First off, you are the new guy, who are you to worry about others, just worry about your own work.
Second, no one likes a tattle tale, especially when it involves so many people....what happens when you mention that this guy was surfing the web (it happened to be to look up info on projects) and you get him fired, then he slaps a lawsuit on your company for wrongful dismissal....you see what I am getting at.
Third, like most highly efficient programmers, there tends to be development of efficiency with coding and reusing code, sometimes you need some de-stress time to get your head on straight, before jumping into the project, and avoid coding so many bad errors, instead take the time to relax, and flow.
Fourth, coding is a bit like magic, although you don't see it (well most bosses don't review your code) it works. So when the guy that is looking like he is goofing off , ends up putting out a product that works without too many errors, and you seem to be staying weekends because you have so many bugs or missing deadlines, I would actually take a look at their work habits more then you think. If they are however missing deadlines and creating bad code, they shoudl not be used as a role model.
I remember my first internship (turned into a job), I had this hardcore programmer (CoolJoe) who knew all about everything, and he would come in at about 10 and leave at 4 with a big lunch in the middle, I never once said anything....most of his time was spent on casino websites during his day....so how did he get all 6 projects done on time, and without 1 line of code to be redone or corrected. While everybody else in that same office had many errors, and at most 2 projects and worked 9 to 5. He was my programming role model. Today (12 years later) I so look back at that time and see what he was doing as necessity for keeping a cool head and a clear picture of what needed to be done. He is still at that same job today, peanuts compared to what he could be making if he looked for a better job, but much happier , probably.
Is this what I think this is about, without RTFA, I tend to think that anyone playing around with creating black holes (however small) is messing around with stuff they should not, especially if for some reason they open that rift, and can't close it again....I do not know if a small hole turns into a big one eventually...but too me, I would tend to think EVERYBODY on the planet would have to say no to a scientist in his backyard producing small black holes, so why should these guys be any different?
It is not because it is for the US government that it is any safer or less dangerous. And once we start playing with black holes, do we stop any other country from being allowed, as like the nuclear arms race, we could have terrorists with small black hole making machines deposit them all over cities in the US, and start like 100 of them all at once.... Just saying...we should not allow this to happen, for ANYONE asking to try this....being that it could affect the hole planet.
I agree, it's not because you have an engineering degree that you know so much about something that you have never had contact with, as well they are using earth type examples to template off of, thinking there could never be any similar thing that would cause water like patterns in the sand, so it must be water, what about liquid gasses...they are liquid too, but not water...anyways, I lost interest in what they were doing a long time ago....when I saw some of the presumptions they made about so many space things. Try asking about dark matter!
>the smartest thing is probably to live with this occasional but major inconvenience Right up until it ends up being HIS plane that blows up because someone got passed security this way. Seriously, what a boob. Can we keep our stories written by smart people please, seems too much of these stories are written by clueless boobs these days...hope its not a new trend.
Please, let me hit him in the head with a bat, I promise I wont let him suffer, please, let me make him see the light. What a mofo, sounds way too much like a clueless idiot, that got his job handed to him by being a family or friend.
This is not to say that they broke the encryption, but just to say they figured out a way to bypass the encryption scheme altogether which is not to say, that with a proper fix to the software or hardware, that the usb key is useless.
This is really not good, when you give a governing body a full pass on your laws...all the need to do in any event is to outsource perticular aspects of a case, (like planting wiretaps without a warrant) which could be challenged in court, and then accompanied by charges for breaking the law, they get to do what they need without so much as batting an eyelash.
The FBI could call them when they need something beyond their power to get, and INTERPOL could get some extra money for using their "services" this way. No one is safe anymore...thank you Obama, thank you very much!
When the galaxies collide , what effect does it have on the inhabiting planets inside that galaxy, or is it something you would not feel, just all of a sudden (like in a crowded gym...) you look up to see twice as many people (or in this case planets and stars) then before?
The scam is in the time saved when you bring it back and they just reload all the copied files back unto your pc from a copy they made, and then keep doing that as part of the garantee is it will always run fast or bring it back to us free of charge. They tweak it a bit, making sure no malware exists, then they clone it.
I am sure the time saved is more on their end then yours, as you are an incompetent clod who can't even figure out how to configure your own pc, let alone figure out how to make backups for yourself.

stray dogs, a portfolio for your websites, a guard on how to work properly, you get emails with that
PS- Seriously, is this even worth our time on /. ?
It's to keep the big wheel turning and give you job security, without it, there would be no need for you, or the AV vendors. Didn't you know...

Exactly, which is what most c++ type date time combos usually are designed like...
The economic crisis, has made sure of this fact.
