    The *BSD distributions out there are highly scalable. Linux still need fine tunning in that arena in the fact that the scalabilty is still not as good as the *BSD's.

    Talking about FreeBSD - I'm trying to gather some people to gether to work on FreeBSD distro that's aimed for the Win and Mac users. Here's a very incomplete write up for the distro - and we are still working on getting the logo finished so we can do the website. Just email me if you want on.

    Like I said on the post on Geeknews.net - Apple already lost this fight in the past. Apple vs. MS over look and feel of the GUI.

    Apple keeps running around in one big circle, repeating mistakes that they have made in the past. They haven't learn a damned thing IMO. I feel that they are nothing more than a bunch of whiney bastards that are so arogant that they are really destroying any change of becomming a good company.

    Apple IMO is as evil as M$ in business practices, or even worse.

    Actually, you can't store 288 Mb, you can store a total of 256 Mb. The other 32Mb is being used for error checking/correcting.

    The problem with doing that would be the fact that users are constinately sending in things they have already posted or have been on every other site in the past week. Even at geeknews.net we get a ton of stuff that /. posts up before we can. If they were to do an overflow page like you are talking about, people would try to abuse it by writting up some fake story about how this page, such and such tell you have to trick AMD K-6 3 processors to SMP, and in all actuallity it will be a page that loads thousands of pop ads for porn, other pages and get rich schemes. So the whole overflow idea would become something that is not suitable for the "family" enviroment in which Slashdot has established. If i'm wrong - correct me - Don't bash....

    Will learn from this incident.. I'm getting spam on ICQ, and that's annoying as hell. I don't mind it in my email becuase I sort of expect it - but not on ICQ. How about this for an idea, we call all the spammers at 3 am and spam, then we cover their car with flyers, the we call them at work and follow them all over..

    You get it, they are every where - invading you life...

    No, the CPU actually has to support it along with the chipset.. You can't make a dual K6-3 system, becuase the CPU doesn't support SMP.

    From what I understand - Rev 2 will be copper, .18, support smp, 1 ghz and will have added to the chip - so it would be like a K7-2 =). So if they are compairing to the Rev 1, then this might be correct, but if they are going up against Rev 2 - then this is most likely FUD.

    It's hard to find a good geek girl.. I think there needs to be match maker board, just for geeks.

    But back on the subject, it's cool that females are getting into the linux scene, but there are going to be alot of fights becuase the whole male ego going on about how 'guys are better' at such and such.. I never agreed w/ that. So I back the whole female particapation.

    Well i'm seeing all this and stuff, and I still love my Turbo Graphix 16....
    Why bother w/ those when we could be doing this all on our computers.. Just hook up some game pads and stuff and Wah lah.. I know emulation would suck w/ the new consols comming out, but alpha just noted that they are comming out w/ a new cpu. I just wish the x86 chip set would start doing gflops instead of mflops..

    Well talking about him stealing X, don't you think how funny it is that they are whining all time about people stealing their crap.. They tried to sue MS for taking "thier" look and feel when they themselfs stole it from the creators of X... Then they whined about the iMac look alike from eMachines... Well didn't Compaq have clear models of their one piece computer.. What about terminals, one piece once again.. This is what you get when one of the owners is a major coke head, or used to be back in the 80's...

    I think I speak for a majority of us out there, they need to bend over and take it like a man and shut the heck up....

    But look at these systems. There are not clones of these systems.. Apple didn't alow this becuase they wanted the cash. Think about how much it actaully cost to make a G3 system... The customer is getting screwed. What if you want to upgrade your sound card? What if you want to do an upgrade, you have to buy a new system.. With me, I don't have $1,500 to toss around each time I want I want something better.

    Also you have to note that by apple doing this it's a complete trust, so there is no competition to them. If they were to allow this I think that apple would start actaully building better crap at a resonable price.

    All I have to say is this, I like to only spend only a couple hundred dollars on a system that blows aways what Apple sells.

    Nah, just takes a bigger bat.

    It's kind of funny that Apple has a patant on true type.. What makes it pantable?? People have been using picuture letters way before apple came out on the scene. Think about ransom notes! I wonder when someone will claim they have the patent of fonts in general. But looking at what Apple has been doing lately, I feel they are trying to make it anyway they can, becuase the fact that the have lost alot of ground on everything they did. But that points out that they do things in a manor to make more money, not that it's sensable.
