Yes the big argument for staying with windows is having a system you can either produce documents or code for that works with "everybody else's" computer. I guess it's easier if your lab or company is very small.
Do you believe in free will (to the extent you can boil your beliefs to a "yes" or "no")? Leave a note and I'll try and tally the results. I personally think it is a bad concept, but I don't judge those disagree.
I haven't logged into slashdot in a long time. I am now reminded exactly how much slashdot sucks. It doesn't matter that I'm trolling; mod me up because you're tired of how ridiculously bad most of the stories on slashdot are.
You should try out this other operating system called "Linux." There ae few restrictions on the use and copying of the operating system than say, Microsoft Windows.
The Dirac equation which is the governing equation for matter that takes into account relativity (as opposed to the Schrodinger's equation which doesn't) predicts the existence of antimatter. And the Dirac equation specifically takes into account the equivalence of matter and energy.
I think you're on to something. Some regulatory body or Linus should redefine the tab length permanently. It's silly to have system dependent or editor dependent definitions of tabs. And things like this are standardized all of the time in committees to pretty good effect. For instance, whatever language you code in was probably standardized by a committee that just claimed authority over the language and was granted it de facto by the compiler writers.
Hey this story that I wrote is about trying out OS X after years of using Linux. It's sort of in the same genre of this original posting so I thought I'd put it here in case anybody was interested. Leave your snarky comments at my journal entry.

We found that for disk intensive parallel computing that gigabit ethernet can be almost as fast as very, very expensive networking equipment. Of course our throughput requirements are small compared to many other types of applications. So try it cheap before you invest in the expensive networking equipment. You can always use the cheap stuff for login type work and distributed shells if you opt for the expensive equipment later.

I am being serious. I don't know anyone who hasn't switched to either linux or to using a mac.
err, what I meant to say was that quantum mechanics has nothing to do with whether or not people have free will.
quantum mechanics has no relation bearing on free will; attempts to link them are silly.

I'm not sure which one is the new species.
Here could be their jingle:
"Group think: The process that brought you the Iraq Quagmire"
>>Given how stupidly people behave in groups, it only makes sense to use computers to help them think stupider more quickly.
EOM
The group think on Slashdot is unsurpassed in so many areas...
There seem to be many knowledgable people here today. Do any of you know how they plan to deal with neutron containment at the ITER reactor?

Is this a joke or something? Grow up.

You're as dumb as a box of rocks.
Proof of two is very easy. Just google "long wave approximation" and "dipole moment."
You speak from a pretty high horse for someone who doesn't know what they are talking about.
"One possibility would be as a biodegradable surgical adhesive."
Now I can see surgical scissors being left in your abdomen and crazy-glued to your internal organs.
Maybe that explains why I get so crusty when I don't shower for several days at a time.
Actually that helps alot. Thank you.
Will you kindly tell me how you go the key to go back in properly? I tried to reset mine in the keyboard but it wouldn't take. Thanks!
