The new AOL spam filters work pretty well. I've had my AOL email address for almost 8 years and used to recieve hundreds of spams per day. This has drastically improved after the new spam filter was implemented. I now get less than five per day.
I guess that may still be five too many for some people, but all of my friends have this address and it would be too difficult to change it. I also enjoy some of the other exclusive content that AOL provides.
This just shows how poor is the default security of their servers. I can't believe that some sys admins in a major ISP leave their servers unpatched for this long and open themselves up for this trivial exploit.
"People who refuse to identify themselves, even if they are not suspected of a crime, will be arrested. Sound Orwellian?"
No it does not, and no, you will not be arrested. A cop who attempts to arrest someone without probable cause of them being a suspect of a specific crime can kiss his donuts goodbye. There is too much trouble out there for cops to be going around just pluckn innocent schmucks off the sidewalk because they want to manifest your Orwellian paranoia.
Get SP1 and Microsofts RPC vulnerability patch ahead of time and have them ready on CD. My ISP does a poor job controlling recent RPC exploiting viruses, and I will get hit too unless I run the patch locally first.
Use logic and common sense, unplug the machine install a firewall then get it online and download the updates. XP even has some sort of built in firewall. Also lots of cable modems have a lock button on them, when you press it traffic is supressed.
In Oregon, at least, this too is common knowledge. The incindiary ballons of Project Fu-Go were intended to start fires in the forests of the Western US, but they generally failed. A balloon bomb did kill five children and a woman on a church picnic in Oregon in 1945; see this Seattle Times story for details.
Calling this all "little known" is simply a display of ignorance. Schoolchildren in Oregon still learn of the balloons in grade school, and the ballons appear high in the FAQ lists of many WWII web sites. Any time you ask someone about US domestic casualties in WWII, this is what you'll hear.

Although the icons from the new standalone Qute are obviously the same, one annoying thing is the absence of the horizontal line below and above the icons. Aside from making the vertical icon-spacer lines look out of place, this also makes the toolbar mesh in with the browsing window itself.
Am I the only one having this problem, or does anyone notice that the theme isn't 'exactly' (even significantly) as it was in 0.8?
Hey, this is kind of fun talking to ourselves! Sort of like Multiple Personality Disorder! Now if we could only get some mod points and mod each other up... no wait, Slashdot thinks we are all the same person so that won't work! Stilll....... Bwa ha ha ha ha!
No, I'm not replying to myself, this is actually someone else under the same login and password...
What about building up some karma on this common account ?
Or burning some... well, after all, any troll could abuse it since the login and password are more or less public. So maybe it's not such a good idea. Shucks.

I couldn't agree more.

So it will be "inny" instead of "outy"
Yes, unfortunatly intel destroyed them.
If alpha was in intels posistion now, computers in general would have been much better.
too bad.
Indeed, AMD, the Avis of the PC business to Intel's Hertz...
Anyone care to explain what the heck this metaphor means? Are you talking to me?!?

Ashcroft does.

well + points are you can still set the moderation level unlike anonymous coward. bet this does develop bad karma though

It's like slashdot wiki, only with bad karma. Ok, I'll stop talking to myself now.
Got this username/password from bugmenot.com. Too bad I won't actually get any Karma if this comment should be modded up.
