yea but DSes tend to not be given to kids, they tend to be in the playroom where kids get to spend a couple of hours a week. I spent a lot of time in hospital as a kid and I was never give anything to play with, just allowed in the playroom once in a while. I don't think it's changed since then, so these DSes will be ways for kids to escape for an hour or two, not keep them happy while other shits going on.
Either way wouldn't mario kart still be better than mysterious dungeon with just 1 save file?
Okay I adore the idea and I'll be supporting it, but I have to ask WTF is with some of the gifts. Theres a lot of cool stuff requested but maybe it's just me but is animal crossing and RPGs (Pokemon mysterious dungeon and mario and luigi) really the best idea? These kids arn't going to have very long with the toys let a lone enough time to really understand an RPG (and even so with mysterious dungeon one person could majorly screw your entire game up in 1 swift move change). Is it really the best idea to be buying these sort of games?

People have been brought up to expect everything NOW. If they have to take time to learn it then obviously it's not worth it. That's what us Manics are for. They learn just what they need and then we save the day when they need more.
Could anyone tell me if there is a interface for nethack that shows sprites or whatever on Linux? I used to play the windows one but I'm unsure if Ubuntu has it's own version..
Online servers.. anyone know a newbie friendly one with a nice IRC channel?
Finally! Is there any way to use said interface with an online nethack server?
I'm not quite sure how this really has any "real world" effects.. Browsing speed is already insanely fast to the point where if you blink you miss the loading on most connections these days. How does speeding up this second or so really help anything?
I can see it's use on large sites but this seems aimed at smaller sites.
Then again HTML isn't my thing so it goes over my head I guess.

Do these people seriously expect stopping kids touching each other is going to stop them getting hurt?
Kids are very simple life forms, they don't have a firm grasp of logic and hence do stupid things which get them hurt. This is a basic fact of life and if you repress it you make adults who do the same because they never learnt any better.

$0k is very difficult to make into a MMORPG. The entire format lacks.. well any real format to work with. Space marines will be far too popular and every other race will be so hugely out numbered they have no choice but to all attack the Imperium..
How will the game handle redesigns in the model lines. With Games workshop releasing an entire product line redesign over 2-3 months, will the game keep up with them or keep it's "classic" feel? I assume adding new weapons and armour for a player wouldn't be too difficult, but will uniforms and weapons be updated on the NPC for example.

The guy's basicly gone "SLASHDOT POSTED STORY I MUST REACT!", he hasn't even researche to see if it's true or not.. just "Slashdot said so!!". Hence a knee jerk reaction and why I was going "I hope you're joking".
How do you plan to handle magic items and named characters ingame? Many of the most popular items belong to NPC characters (like Gotrek's axe for example) and as such cannot be found without breaking the canon timeline.

I expect each expansion pack will add an extra race or two. It's more or less standard in all games.
