Out of curiousity here.. did it sway your vote either way based on this evidence?

I have in the past searched things looking for news stories on them. For example "Harry potter sex vibrator stick" looking for the story on the vibrating toy they made.. but if you read it in a different way it's looking for harry potter porn which would involve children due to the actors age. Or what about the time I searched for "underage incest" since a friend had just been raped by her brother and I was looking for support sites and such?

I'm not sure what was searched (I'd love to know because I'm morbid like that), but theres usually ways to explain things. A browser cache is easy to trick (link images from else where and such) and really shouldn't be used as evidence IMO.

This is being taken into account, but it's never got so hot so fast before. It's quite worrying that it is so quickly. A few years ago I remember wet summers in England, it was warm but not THAT warm. Now we're seeing repeatedly that the summers are blisteringly hot and it's a very harsh heat with very few storms (most of them being extremely heavy but very short).

Somethings going on and it's better to go "Hey maybe we're the problem" than to go "screw it, lets see what happens".

I think Nintendo has always been like that if you notice. They did many of the things we hold today as standard first. Like D-pads and then analog sticks etc. People complain about Mario being in every Nintendo game but Mario is just a standard character they place in many settings, the games all tend to be pretty unique and danmn fun (Paper Mario and Mario part for example).

Nintendo never really played the "lets all do the same thing" game. They just never had to face two huge faceless companies before so rather than poking and prodding at them they've gone full on red alert, pulling out every last trick they have and so far it's paying off.

The only question is where do they go next. I can't see any way you can move beyond the human body which doesn't require direct brain access..

With the DS Nintendo have officially stopped playing Sony/Microsoft's game. They can clearly see that games are being put in a box now with nothing but graphics improving, so they picked up there ball and started a new game. Sony and Microsoft can stay with the graphics grind where as Nintendo will start making some intresting games and change the scene.

Maybe it'll be a hit (like the DS), maybe it'll fail. It's a new direction and a some fresh blood in the old games markets heart. It's not going to hurt Nintendo any if they screw this up because the DS will keep them a float. The cube has a dedicated fanbase (I love mine) which wants to play fun games and graphics don't matter all that much to them. These are the same people who will buy the revolution and love it.

Nintendos job in this "generation" is to try something new, keep their fans happy and forget about Sony and Microsoft. The PSP VS DS "battle" so far has been pretty much 99% in Nintendos favour. Theres a few PSP fans but mostly people have no intrest or are disapointed by their handheld. If it had been GBA Mark 2 VS PSP then the PSP would of won hands down. Yet Nintendo changed the entire game and have so far (Nintendogs being a major part of it) totally owned Sony.

As long as Sony and Microsoft keep throwing thud around about "Hard drive this" and "Media centre" that they'll never beat Nintendo. They may sell more consoles or make more money, but people will only go "ooohhh shiny" so often.

Police want the time to take some pressure off themselvs. If they can extend the deadline by 2 and a half months they have more time to get everything done. They don't "need it", but they want it because it's a damn sight easier for them.

Although I'm outright against this and any other attempt to make a police state. If you lock a guy up for 3 months you've pretty much taken his job away from him, maybe his house (if renting) and rumours spread fast, so good luck getting hired againa as a "possible terrorist". The reason the vote was against it is because it would ruin people's lives if this were to be brought upon them.

Be honest. Most geeks would perfer if you told them what was going on. Don't lie to them unless you 100% have to.

Listen to them. If they say "we need a week" then go "including delays and testing?". If they say yes then give them 8 days. If they say no then add an extra couple of days (for a short project) or weeks/months for a long project. If the shits going to hit the fan because of a too short deadline you get it in the neck as well as them.

Remember they're people. If you're getting a dirnk offer to get them one, same goes for if you're making a run some where. Act like you're one of them because that way you're a friend and not "the boss". Make sure they know when you say something it really must be done (when to put your foot down, don't do it always).

And last but not least. Get a decent tasting coffee and some biscuits. A good drink gets you going in the morning, biscuits go nice with it and if you're hungry a couple will hold you till lunch. A hungry worker is one thinking of lunch, so his mind is else where.

If you're a writer may I ask why you're all so out of touch with the gamers themselvs? I started reading from issue one but now I find the news letters to be hardly worth reading. The Escapist seems to have lost it's way and now seems like a theme restraunt magazine at best.

I used to think Penny Arcade was out of touch but the magazine just seems 100 times worse. If you want to do a comment on girl gamers then do an article a week, not a whole issue of it. Most of us are sick of girl gamers whining over not being equal when we couldn't careless of their gender. There is jerks in the community, we all know this but we have to put up with them, so why should they whine about it?

The last article I read due to intrest and not sheer boredom from it was the one about people "wandering" looking for a new game to get hooked on. It most of been like a month ago now and it's getting to the point where I'm going to kill the news letter and just skip any stories on slashdot involving it.

If you guys want people like me (the 20 year old market who have time to play but don't find much worth playing any more), then I suggest you stop making theme weeks and start putting up some real decent content. Stop with the "Games arn't games any more" articles or the "games should be more this way" or the ever whored "games companies should/n't do X/Y/Z" and post some proper decent content.

We started out with guys talking about their expriences and memories. How games used to be and how they are now, comparing each point and saying pretty much "I miss game X, but I can still play it and hey the latest version isn't so bad". While it wasn't great it brought back memories which made the magazine worth reading. Little quirks like the old text adventures and the arcade scene.

Now it's gone to everyone whining about everything they think "needs to be fixed". So I'm whining that the magazine needs to be fixed. Other wise you'll end up losing the market of "real gamers" and just be left with the whiney majority who are only reading for the latest WoW story untill the minority (who tend to run the elite places people desire to be) consider The Escapist a poor joke and it becomes a bad joke among the community.
