This is a smart move. The Itanium was built for a niche market. Due to it's high price, and low performance to price ratio, the Itanium isn't popular.
But Microsoft has so much weight that it could probably stop supporting intel processors and still come out alive, albeit heavily damaged.
If I were Microsoft, I'd try to buy (or merge) with AMD or Intel, then stop OS support for my competitor, leaving them helpless.
It would be risky, but if I were a selfish, inconsiderate, greedy, power-hungry, monopoly driven CEO, that's what I would do:).
I've been playing violent video games since I was ten. My father raised me to know the difference between reality and fantasy. I think my first FPS was Duke Nukem 3D. The government, any government, can't protect children from bad parenting forever. At some point, all governments must realize that these censorship programs for everything from erotica to swear words wouldn't be necessary, if they promoted programs to inform parents on successful methods for raising children.
There is only so much the government can do the shield children from bad parenting.
I agree, the iRiver has many more features than the iPod and IMHO looks better. On top of that, it's in the same price range if not cheaper. The Rio Karma has more options and is $100 less.
The only reason the iRiver HD player isn't an iPod killer is, of course, because the iPod has brand recognition.
Why they're at it, why don't they ban all non-Christian sites. I think that's a great idea, because after all, those sites are offensive to non-Christians.
Oh, and political debate is offensive too.
Once a country starts arbitrarily determining, what is and is not offensive, it can only go downhill from there.
What's so important about a pre-release? They would have +1 downloadloads from me if it were the final. I don't understand why they're putting an emphasis on the pre-release. Isn't it only for early adopters and testers?
Governments PRIMARY purpose is to serve the people.
You're talking about a corporation.
The government is suppose to be run by the people to benefit the people, not just to exist.
Where did you learn YOUR American values?
If it's not illegal now, you can bet that the RIAA will fix that very quickly.
I imagine that the easiest way to do that would be to limit the number of people who can legally watch one DVD to 1. Then blockbuster will have an excuse to bump of their prices. So when you go to the cash register they'll ask you "how many people will be viewing this movie today" and charge you accordingly.
I'm so used to being screwed by the RIAA that I can see it coming.

It wouldn't have been so bad if they just banned all brand names, but allowing only coke is a greedy decision to protect their interests.

I fired BestBuy long before they could fire me!
