This is more than just gambling. The "internet cafes" are suposed to benefit non-profit organizations. In the same manner that fundraiser casinos are created for charity. However, the owners of these gambling rings were pocketing all of the proceeds. Yes, there are many places to gamble in Florida. But strip malls are not one of them. Go to a port and ride a boat, or go to a native american reserve. There are no shortages of either.
Background: I've been a web developer since 1994 and have tried multiple visual editors from the beginning. And try to keep an open mind about new ones. But have yet to be impressed by the final outcome.
What you see is all that you get with a WYSIWYG. You can design and move things around for a template, then build a website from that template(s). But when it comes to redesigning, adding functionality, or updating the website that was built entirely with a visual editor, things get messy very quickly. A visual editor doesn't know what the developer is building and for what purpose, so it attempts to work around the browser quirks in a redundant manner. This leads to extra JS and CSS libraries, snippets, and junk that isn't always necessary. For a secondary developer, all of this extra junk becomes confusing and will cause major headaches.
Am I completely opposed to visual editors? No, but it is essential for any designer/developer to learn the mark-up first. Then, if it's essential for a specific project to learn how to use a WYSIWYG editor. But to always maintain a vigilant eye on what mark-up is being dumped on the pages.
I wasn't gonna say anything about the specific products, but since you offered...
Let's begin with Win2k.
The installation forces a 600Mb OS. You can't select what tool, accesories or anything that will be installed. Driver managment is horrible.
Now Office
If I had to choose between Office 2k vs. 97 I would have to choose 97. I'd like to see you "Save as HTML" a file and make sence of the final result. Not that I would do that in the first place, but I had to see what Office had to offer. 97 isn't any better, but I did say if I had to choose.
Visio
It's cute for a simple and non-funtional diagram. I would give Inspiration Pro props over Visio any day. At least Inspiration allows you to creat REAL links between objects and has the ability to view the diagram in outline form.
I wouldn't get anywhere close to those 95/98/ME things.

It doesn't matter what the media calls us/them. If you don't want to be considered a hacker because of what *they* say look at it this way, we're just geeks. Does it really matter? We do what we love, we understand what they don't and we make a ton of $$ doing it. Let them be wrong and us happy.
I don't care much for MS, I hate Windows 98 more than anything in this Universe. But why is Microsoft going through this? They sold an OS to computer companies. They bought it. The computers sold like crazy. The Computer companies didn't HAVE to buy this OS. They could have done what ever they wanted. MS is NOT the ONLY software company that has developed an OS. Anyone can go out and buy a copy of Linux at your nearest Best Buy. They do sell MACs in computer stores. It is possible to build your own computer and NOT purchase an OS. I know that WE know all of this. It isn't a hard thing to do (not own a MS OS). I don't see why they have to go to court for this. Last nights on Jay Leno, Jay made fun of the whole thing by showing "the new" Monopoly. It had all of the squares showing a Windows logo. I laughed for a second, but for all of the computers that I have at home, only one has a 1024mb partition that run Windows NT. Everything else is all of the above. From MAC to LINUX to Solaris. How is this a Monopoly? Please explain. I have had the choice to run any OS that I want. But I can't choose what phone company runs into my house, or what cable company I can use. Am I missing something here?
My favorite park in Jurassic Park was when the Girl says "Oh the UNIX operating system, I know this." Then when I'm expecting a black and white shell I see those insane 3D window flying around. When I saw the movie I hadn't used IRIX yet, but the greatest was when Samuel L. Jackson mutters to himself "ACCESS MAIN SECURITY, ACCESS SECURITY GRID, ACCESS MAIN SECURITY GRID" and on screen I see: ACCESS MAIN SECURITY ACCESS SECURITY GRID ACCESS MAIN SECURITY GRID
I have a co-worker that ordered a G3 the day before the G4s where released. He called the people that he ordered his machine from the next day and told him that his order was automatically upgraded to a G4.
It arrived about 2 weeks ago. Works fine and he got a 450 G4 for the price of now 400 G4.
My girlfriend and I had to fight over my computer for surf time, when she moved in I set up her computer on my network so now we can both surf at the same time. We even "talk" from one room to the other on her telnet and my Linux box.

Perhaps, if you weren't strung out on caffeine and nicotine, your IQ range would be plural and not possessive.
Touch tone phones? That figures. I haven't owned a land line phone for over 8 years.

As much as I hate M$ products, I still can't wait to get a hold of an X-Box.
Is it wrong?
Is this just a small HumPer?

I may be in the wrong state of mind today, but:

As if we didn't know: a kid with a scanner and no clue about computers He's just a media whore. And MTV payed for it.

Some people just get far too lucky.
Forget the name game "Hacker" "Cracker"
You know who you are. You know what you do.
MTV is food for the mentally challenged.
They can say what they want, but they can't and won't affect what we are.
Trespassing is a thing of glamour, but knowledge is why we're here.
We read we learn we live. That's all. MTV may have destroyed the music scene, but it can't touch geeks.
If you ignore them they will go away.

We are much happier now.
He can have his 15 min. I never even saw the show.

"Punk Hacker Kid" The name should have said enough. Did he attach the .DOC file to a message from AOL? OR MSN?
