I mean, the least they could have done was run Apache on a Windows server. I mean PUH-LEase. They called me last week for an interview (the fourth time they have), and I finally told them to go take a leap because I'm too overqualified.:P

I helped build the one at MCI that doesn't look *quite* as nice as this one at IBM, but it was very very nice. Until the IBM monitors started exploding at 3am. Frickin' security guy called the cops cuz he thought a gun had been shot in the building, but my teammate called me at home about at broken monitor at the same time. We used Averkeys to display and record scrolling logs to VHS (can you tell this was started in 1996?) and upgraded from there. *woot*
All that being said, whatever you do.. invest in the wide screen flat panels, especially the ones that can go vertical so that you can display logs/pages/monitoring however you want for best effectiveness.

A couple of years and a lot more experience later, I *did* score an initial beta release of Windows NT 5.0!! Muwahahahaha... Terminal Server Edition Even. And Picasso from Citrix. I still have these around somewhere in a case, just for nostalgia. Upon installing NT5 (later became 2000 - it was late 1997) - I crashed the HP server because it didn't have video driver support for that driver. Threw in an old Trident and reinstalled, and then ran a fully operational remote access system for employees in SoCal. ON AN ALPHA RELEASE!:D Goddamn, I'm old.

Geez... I feel stupid. I took all Advanced Placement classes in Jr. High and High School, and I still only got:
1 semester of State History in 7th grade,
1 semester of Civics in 9th grade,
1 semester of World History in 10th grade,
2 semesters of AP American History in 11th grade, with no other options to take more.
Those were all that were required by our school system, as well as all that was provided. That's it, that's all. But damn, I sure could take my pick from any PE class, English Class, or Science Class that I wanted. Which I did. CP Calculus SUCKED! Our instructor didn't even know it, so we all dropped the class on the same day. AND THEY STILL DIDN'T FIRE HIM!!!!
All of that being said, it was ME who applied MYSELF to learn everything that has made me succeed. The schools ain't gonna teach 'em, hell, the parents aren't either!! So it's got to be up to the students. And that's why Home School succeeds.:)

We weren't because idiots didn't pay the maintenace to ISS. And then they had to spend the weekend rebuilding our entire data center, when Veritas maintenance had lapsed and restores failed! *wooooo*

At the time running a huge BBS that was big time multiuser, we had 32 lines! *woo* And there was no support for modems that fast! None whatsoever. But boy did we throw together a PO right quick once we got them tested. And then we started porting Usenet Groups over to the BBS, and that was it. They converted to Internet on their own.:| I seriously miss those days.

All of that being said, it was ME who applied MYSELF to learn everything that has made me succeed. The schools ain't gonna teach 'em, hell, the parents aren't either!! So it's got to be up to the students. And that's why Home School succeeds.

Ahhhhh...... but does she have an HD set? If not, of course it did. If so, she's got wrong cables or something. There's no comparison between anything, and High-Definition gaming. NOTHING. In Unreal, I can see the individual parts getting blown off of my enemies, the individual rockets killing my ass... etcetcetc. You can't do that even on the PC, and I had a 256M Radeon card... until my fat ass cat broke the port. *grumble*
When you maximize your setup, you maximize your experience. I haven't yet coupled it with SS 5.1, but I'm working it.

Actually, it was 12,000 sites, and it wasn't an OLD version of the firewall software. Check your facts. The vulnerability and were announced just 24 hours before the worm hit (this is why they consider it an inside job). Anyone who had their ISS sensors to auto-download the patches were protected. We weren't because idiots didn't pay the maintenace to ISS. And then they had to spend the weekend rebuilding our entire data center, when Veritas maintenance had lapsed and restores failed! *wooooo*
Again, it was not an OLD version... it was a very recently patched vulnerability, struck within 24 hours. Jho
*wave* I was!! Ok, I remember that I loved that magazine, because I thought the Internet was just a fad. Didn't we all? And I still hate the web. Really I do. Despite how much I'm forced to use it. Give me back my CLI's, Batch's, Scripts, and Hardware interfaces!!!!

I remember getting my first 24.4 Zoom Modem because I was a presenter at OneBBSCon!! At the time running a huge BBS that was big time multiuser, we had 32 lines! *woo* And there was no support for modems that fast! None whatsoever. But boy did we throw together a PO right quick once we got them tested. And then we started porting Usenet Groups over to the BBS, and that was it. They converted to Internet on their own. :| I seriously miss those days.
I remember I couldn't *WAIT* for the latest local paper rag to come out with all the BBS listings so I could tell where my favorites ranked, all far above my own, I guess! Jho
I *have* Mod points, but can't mod it any higher. This is so freakin' funny!! It totally brings back so many old great (and not so great) memories of the old days.
So REALLY!!! Anyone care to stab at what percentage of Slashdot users got their start on BBS's? I was a very regular user from '91-95... including running several different ones. I miss the old Galacticomm boards.

Hell yeah!! Imagine the peace the world would have if they would do that and legalize marijuana... for medicinal purposes of course. Our parents wanted to save the world! Why can't we? :P
But the problem with the old people having sex is that they are becoming the fastest growing population with the HIV Virus. *boo*
... they are lining our politicians pockets, so we get to be screwed.
:P But, Medicare and Medical do! WTF? Sex offending welfare recipients can get viagra, but um, hello... I can't get the drugs I need to allow me to breathe or move? We seriously need to hold the companies responsible.
So what can we do about it all? I would like to see a law enacted that would prevent the phama companies from holding back 'cures' and vaccines. I really would. But
Note: Health Insurance companies do not cover 'lifestyle drugs' - Aetna and Cigna do not. I had to prove that I have a disability to get a stinkin' bottle of Vioxx. Boy do I regret that now.
And to that end... I have already started boycotting Bayer for selling tainted blood overseas and contributing to the death of thousands.
