I hated the earlier versions because they crashed so much. v6.5 was nice though. Crashes rarely. Unfortunately, my employer switched to Outlook and Exchange.
It was related to my Yahoo! account. It was like 3:30 AM in the morning and I was half asleep. A friend of mine IM'ed me to check out his Web site. It took me to some Yahoo! looking site. Stupid me wasn't paying attention to the URL and stuff. It required me to log in like Yahoo! always does. So I did and it didn't work. I tried again. Then, I got disconnected from Yahoo! Messenger. I couldn't log back in. At first, I thought it was just a mainteance time.
In the day time, I tried to connect, but failed. Then, it hit me. I got TRICKED! Damn social engineering. I also found out my other friends got the same IMs from my friend and me. Damn phishers.
So pay attention even if you're super tired. They're getting you at your weakness! Good thing this account was only for IM and Launch.com.
Doesn't this still require users to install something on HDD? I was expecting this be a LiveCD that doesn't need any installations. The only thing on HDD is to access videos.
It pisses me off that game demos have these protections too. I wonder if game companies are lazy to remove them from demos, want us customers to test them, etc.
I avoided TiVo and Replay due to their subscription requirements and high prices.
Do the newer PVRs with timeshift and DTV supports and without service subscription requirement (e.g., don't need the fancy TV guides, recommendations for other shows, voting, etc.) exist? I do not subscribe to satellite and cable TV services (I am a cheap punk, and I don't watch that many TV shows and movies) since I watch through broadcasts. I know DVD recorders exist, but they are quite limited in how much recordings especially with those HDTV (e.g., 1080i). Plus, they are expensive the last time I checked.
Currently, I use an old fashion VCR (record analog TV shows that don't require high quality picture and audio) and a computer with a HDTV tuner PCI card (acts like a PVR, but it is buggy, unstable, and not reliable like a VCR or a standalone hardware-based PVR; also don't like leaving computers on at home). I would love to replace my VCR before February 2009 before digital TV is enforced in USA.
Are there any types of hardware PVRs out there in local retail stores? I live in Los Angeles, CA, USA area. I would love to get a cheap hardware based PVR (no computers) that is like a digital VCR that can handle high quality recordings and playbacks and use over the air (OTA) broadcasts.
Is there a holder for styllis? It loosk easy to lose. I have a hard time writing stuff without a table/wall. That is why I don't have a PDA. Watches work fine because they are on my wrist for support. I think I will wait until these PDA watches get better and lighter. Oh, and cheaper!
Companies as in general, not specific like developers.
... especially in game screen shots. I hate it when game companies use cutscene shots and doctorings (e.g., enhancements) to mislead buyers.
I am using Lynx/Links/ELinks, you doinks.
Install PrefBar in your Mozilla/SeaMonkey/Firefox. Then disable colors and go to /. or refresh the home page. :) Or just use any text Web browsers!

... who doesn't want free yummy bagles to eat? Oh, you mean the computer types... [grin]
Which countries are not crazy like Amercia, Australia, China, etc.?
I still prefer stand alone Coral Cache extension for all Web sites links, not just /. Very useful on Digg too.
2.3 MB WMV.
There are a lot of software products that use IE engine. How will this be affected when separating IE7 and it is not installed?

Hmmph, editors removed my brief comment.
Does anyone think American Inventor fits better instead of American Idol for this story? It seems like this story is about inventing.
/. is faster than Digg these days on dial-up connections too. :) I take speed and texts any day!
Hmmm! What's up with these F's? ;)
... in one of the episodes (forgot which one -- probably Terra Prime with Peter Weller), there was a memorial scene of it on Mars.
Sheetrock: Good point there, but still annoying. :(

However, you still need a key to play online on legit servers (not cracked ones).

Thanks! I will check out those stores when I need a new watch. Hopefully, by then they have something better. :)
Nice. Do any retail stores carry these watches so I can look at them in person? I live in Los Angeles, CA, USA area.
