Quizzes. Don't forget quizzes. Anyone who scores too badly gets replaced.
I would say you should just make them sit inside and stare at a corner during recess. That or let the other congressmen give them a swirlee. Replacing them means you will probably end up with someone else who is much the same, you have to instill fear and discipline to really get things working.
So a summary of your comments are that you are too lazy to read the bill, think the people whose job it is to deal with it are just as lazy, but still hate it? How the hell did this get modded Insightful? I'm guessing it was right next to "-1 Fucking Ignorant" and people just misclicked.
Hmm, a mac troll with a sense of humor. This just sounds too implausible to be true. You must be some kind of super-troll robot from the future where apple has taken over the world.
BTW: You forgot to rag on internet explorer, the horrors of outlook, services turned on and exposed to the world by default, and microsoft copying code from practically everywhere and still managing to screw it up. Sounds like someone needs a firmware upgrade.
Every time I see these "I will get modded down for criticizing Apple" posts, it never is. Would people stop with the whining about the Apple love on Slashdot?
If you deliberately mention that you will get modded down for making a statement people will not do it. Fail to mention it and the fanboys come out of their dark, chrome covered corners and stab you in the back with a one button mouse.
BTW: I'll probably get modded down for saying that.
Before, I had to say my weight was due to not having to get up in order to admin the box, but now it's due to effective spam fighting techniques.
So that could be a legitimate argument for a correlation between obesity and effectiveness as a system admin?
I guess that means I could eventually effectively use the term "cheeseburger my way to a bonus" without some lewd connotation* being the first thing on people's minds?
* Potential disgusting takes on that term are left as an exercise to the reader.
I can see why a dork like you would be unable to comprehend a sports injury,...
Hmm, I can think of at least one muscle you apparently aren't working out. Try back when you can come up with a retort that does not involve generalizations and namecalling.
Dear god, why are you on slashdot? You could be out helping homeless people, or saving the whales, or working on a cure for cancer. Why are we doing anything aside from those things that will benefit the rest of humanity? Oh, yeah, fun. Maybe that is what is going on here. That or PR, probably some of both.
The only way to guarantee no one gets a lock open is to not have a lock in the first place.
You just made the slogan for my new security company: Akhmed's Security Systems*, revolutionary out of box thinking for your security systems.. Our first product: Home Owner Lockless Environment*.
But it's easier to tell you don't belong in that car if the window is broken
Nah, just clear out the broken glass and roll the other one down too. As for the alarm, just look really confused and irritated while you figure out how to disable it. Pretending to click a remote attached to a key chain works too.
Don't bother protecting a million-dollar data center with fancy locks when you still want to use low-bid drywall for the walls.
Given what I have seen for requirements on rated storm proofing for natural disasters I would think this should be a non-issue. Then again maybe I am among the few people who thinks of a million-dollar datacenter getting sucked up in a tornade.
I wouldn't mind seeing the ability to moderate and comment at the same time. Maybe make one or two mod points available via commenting, then average out what the comment mods say about a post to determine how those points are applied.
Then again it would spawn thousands of new user ids by people who had to either rank up their own posts or mark opposing viewpoints as troll or flamebait. In the end I think the solution would be to simply hide the score on a post and only list the moderation. No ranking = no gaming.
Not only can you turn it off, but a window pops up the first time you run IE7 completely explaining the feature, what happens, and asks whether you want to turn it off or on. It isn't on by default, as you make it sound to be.
If it is a big box full of text with an 'ok' button it might as well be on by default. Doubly so if it is more than one page/frame/prompt.

...and who amongst the Windows crowd will be able to respond?
I would assume that they would need to care first. Given my experience with the average mac user (term used loosely) I would rather have them on an OS I completely do not know. Makes getting out of fixing their screwups much easier for me.
"What, you have a problem with your mac? Sorry, i'm all thumbs. Speaking of which did they figure out how to put in a second mouse button yet?" *grin*
...cause for one thing the Dell would always be fighting with one arm tied behind it thanks to the fact you DO have to hack OS X to work on it.
Beyond that the dell system had less ram than the macs. Then again if I wanted a high performance system I would not buy a laptop anyways, so these scores are not terribly useful.
So for you job qualification is being able to answer simple questions in excruciating detail?:)
I would argue that saying "It compiles, (syntactically correct) handles expected input correctly, (performs desired function correctly) and correctly discards invalid input." (good error handling, etc) is a perfectly good answer. Demonstrating that the code meets these three requirements should be sufficient to say: "Yes, it works".
Now if you wanted to get into optimization methods or something then yes, bring on the details, but in my opinion being able to give a succint but still correct answer is better than everything but the kitchen sink explanations.
Note: didn't mean to go off on you about this, just pointing out what I think hiring criteria should be.
Ok, I will admit that registering null@ is cute in a I-am-a-complete-freaking-moron kind of way. No, it shouldn't be allowed by whatever service he is using.
All that said, why are the developers of these programs using it? I can only assume it is them sending messages to this address as I doubt any clients would. Whatever happened to sending you email to example@example.com? Even better set up an email account that just dumps into a bit bucket on your domain and use that. Regardless of the method why allow messages that the users are obviously not intending to send to go out at all? Sometimes I wonder how computers can work at all with this many idiots behind the wheel.

Ya know, looking back, sometimes I'm amazed I'm not more insane than I am.
How do you know you are not just more insane than you think?
I run antivirus software in Windows because Microsoft has unpatched bugs in their operating system that allow my machine to be infected by doing nothing other than being on a network, or, if I were using their browser, simply mistyping a URL and getting a malicious site, with no other intervention on my part.
You should be using a firewall, and switching away from internet explorer would help there. XP SP2 has the firewall enabled by default, and it takes a lot less to install a different browser than it does to switch operating systems.
If the only reason you moved to a Mac was because of some nebulous guarantees of security you paid a lot of money for some sensible defaults and false hopes.
I will admit that it takes a lot to make a windows system dummy-safe (dummy-proof is simply impossible) but I still maintain that the dummy part of it is the true problem.

Already moderated as a troll, evidently a sense of humor is one of those things you give up to become a mac fanatic.
Yeah, because having one of our healers pass out from exhaustion is just what I want in the middle of trying to down rag.

I see a highly inappropriate anti-microsoft joke somewhere in there.
Yep, dumb, just like opening tags on html.
Perfect job for our drummer until the band gets a start.
