Well, electrons in fact don't move at the speed of light, and certianly not through copper wire, or the printed board of the computer, but that is totally beside the point. just an interesting fact.
but i am pretty habitual about shutting off my windows tower when i go to bed. I have often been told that not shutting down your computer can slow things down, so it is rare when i leave it on for a day or two. Reading this conversation, i thought to myself that maybe i shouldnt shut it down every night, to save boot time. is it ever bad that a computer is shut down too often?
i think its a great idea. even in my small town, the kids dont have a place to hang out. i think creating a space not only for hanging out but for gaming and surfing the web would be a great idea! more power to you!
Its called www.newegg.com
They have some great deals on some parts. I build mine for about 449 USD and it runs great. All the parts I bought from newegg
I'm wondering if more powerful computers will ever get up there. As the article states, computing power is minimally needed. Will the space industry ever be able to take higher-powered computers into space? This brings forward the question that if high-powered computers can never get off the planet, how will the future space industry be impacted by that?
I for one am a little cautious about what people could do with such robotic power.
"Oops, we ordered our robots to attack their's. Oh, it was a technical faliure!"
Sometime, something's going to go wrong there. And it might be the robots that do it. It might be microsoft as well...
A good point, but I still think that attempting this would be a step in the right direction for protecting your files.
This brings up another discussion on whether or not the drinking age should be lowered. Will teens drink less with beer being legal, or drink more? With that much resposibility, will people use it for good or for bad.
"With power, comes great responsibility..."
I think the idea of the "hacker high school should be to get off that bad name. "hacker" to the general populus, means someone with malicious intent trying to get into your computer or files.
I think they should use the name, and then maybe if some of the people that come out of the program are not criminals, it may redefine what people think.
good point. and what if someone destroyed the controlling unit or broke the connection from car to controller, then what happens? do all the cars simply stop? or does it end up as a huge pileup? i would definetly not want this system unil ALL the bugs have been worked out.
all mine does is prevent me from playing halo or warcraft... thats pretty mean, blocking the viruses so they stay in your computer!!
"great, my computers infested with viruses, and we have to install a whole new operating system, but at least everyone else doesnt have it!!"
comon, are you really going to think of that?
how very american of them
ever think of the fact that we would WANT to send lots of viru-*cough*emails out to the general public?
oh, so im not normal now?!?!?!?
this sounds like another attempt by micrsoft to keep their stranglehold on their monopoly of the computer market. there was an article in Wired about a person that made his money by sueing companies for apparent copyright infrigment. i beleive this is a similar case. Gates doesnt like open source b/c it takes his business. Im tired of MS monopolizing the computer industry and I'd love to see MS fall to open source(or Apple, either one)
its a lot cheaper to freeform your own, and its pretty cheap to learn how, its all at one of these sites:
sloarbotics.net
solarbotics.com
or you can check out the BEAM robotics ring at yahoo.com

Hasnt Apple already anounced that they will port to non-mac machines? or so says wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSX
