Taking 2 weeks to get an XP installation working correctly (versus 2hours for Mandriva) indicates your lack of experience setting up XP. XP does come with a generic PS/2 mouse driver - if it didn't work then you probably didn't have the drivers for your mobo installed. A setup with XP is easy. Install XP, install your mobo drivers, install your gfx driver and then any other drivers for extra hardware (printer/scanner etc.).
Oh boy, I feel old now. I remember when Linux was the hard to install operating system that had no drivers. What a turn of events...
Pretty much every Microsoft story that involves someone outside of Microsoft as well has been tagged "itsatrap". I've been keeping track: all but one of the itsatrap articles have been Microsoft-related.
In Catholicism at least, the Tabernacle is where the Body of Christ is stored after the Eucharist, so that makes a bit more sense in regards to what Microsoft is trying to say.
And Apple makes most of its money from selling hardware, so I sincerely doubt they'll drop that and try to squeeze money out of selling an operating system exclusively.
Jon wrote DeCSS; VLC (and basically all free software that can descramble DVDs) uses libdvdcss, a library part of the VideoLAN project. Check VideoLAN's page on libdvdcss or the Wikipedia article about it for more info.
Just to clarify, you'd be taking away from Oregon State University's bandwidth since they're the mirror linked in the article. They have fat pipes, but I don't want my favourite mirror getting slashdotted!
With all the Americans making fun of the word "colour" and the non-Americans wanting their version of English to remain pure, forcing either locale is just a flamewar waiting to happen.
There aren't enough mod points to go around to mod up all the questions we want then! If people combine questions, less mod points needed => more [good] questions are asked.
Then again, if the questions you chose to ask weren't solely based on mod points, then people might break up their questions (although 5 questions = 10 minutes to post, so that damn posting limit is also an issue).
Now that I think about it, the posting limit is probably the main reason why people post them all at once.
Well, you bought something physical from the store, no strings attached, no EULA (other than standard copyright laws). When you bought from iTS, you got a licence to something, not an actual product. Since you own the licence, you should expect to be able to get the music back from them since they still "own" it.
Haven't you heard? Corporations are above the law. If he gets busted for doing this, he can dismantle the corporation and move on without any punishment.
Imagine the mass chaos as everyone with AIM accounts desperately tries to find out how to contact their friends and family! The surge in traffic on MySpace might bring it down [for the 30th time this month]! Think of the children!
What I like to say is, "Remember when Netscape used to be good? Well, the good Netscape is back as two separate programs now: Firefox (for web browsing) and Thunderbird (for email)."
Some people have bad memories of Netscape 4, mind you.:)
Maybe because it would be unconstitutional? Unconstitutional and illegal might as well mean the same thing.
I knew Hell would butcher HTML standards!
So, where can you buy 5-year-old hardware new?
Most people discard their old hardware and buy new hardware, so XP is severely outdated.
Because meta-humour is sometimes funnier than the humour it describes. At least according to the Slashdot mods...
Yeah, it seems like only yesterday people thought the blue e was the internet and had no idea what a web browser is.
Oh wait...

I believe launchd had licencing problems (not DFSG-compliant probably).
But the bar is yellow in all other browsers for secure, so a green bar will just confuse users, right?

It's "Mac", not "MAC". MAC is an acronym: Media Access Control [address]. Mac is short for Macintosh.

That's GNU/Sunlight you insensitive clod!

Just edit eula.txt (or whatever the file actually is) to put in any licence you wish and agree to it. That's a fun way around it.
Okay, I see your argument for piracy; what about for iTS music?

What version of Safari? It seems to work fine in Konqueror 3.5.5, and both browsers are based on the same engine (KHTML).
I think that might be one of the goals of WINE: make Windows obsolete. :)
