    Not necessarily a true confession. If all you want them to say is "I am a black criminal and I bomb schools" then torture might be your method but if you want information torture just makes the person not trust the interrogator.

    If you've seen standard TV signals on an HDTV you'll know this is also how they fill a 16x9 frame with a 4x3 image... The TV recognizes that there's not enough picture to fill the frame, and so it extrapolates using the 4x3 image as source data to determine what the pixel values for the rest of the frame ought to be... Basically all you have to do is take a Fourier transform of your source pixel row, and then inverse-Fourier it to generate the missing data for that row... Are you kidding me? That doesn't work with real-world objects. What most sets do is letterbox things. Most people just won't notice the letterbox, it mentally disappears after a while.

    There's an opensource 'nv' driver that works pretty well with 2d although unfortunately you need the blob for openGL.

    He said compatibility layer. Which means that when the programs try to call the Windows API they're actually calling the WINE API which then calls the relevant Linux functions. Which is slower than the API itself.

    You're not in the target demographic of the Mac. I'm not going to say what the target demographic actually is other than that it's the people for which the best applications for their jobs have traditionally been on the Mac.
