    The use of the word slowlaris goes way back into the mists of time, when SunOS got a gui and became Solaris ... possibly before you were born.

    Oh gee you have problems with bin for binary and lib for library, how cruel of Ritchie et al.

    Pookie the reason its shortened is so it types faster although completion can help here. I guess people like me who alias ls to ll are just part of the problem.

    Oh well, just check the Asus site for the A8N-SLI and look in downloads for lots of linux drivers for all aspects of the Nforce 4 chipset that powers this and the Gigabyte mobo.

    I have been fooling with codecs for DVD encoding. I have only encoded CD quality .wavs and the results with lame for mp3 and freeaac for .aac are quit clear on my equipment. As I said 64k .aac are about as good as as 128k .mp3.

    This stuff is free download it and try it.

    The apple quicktime .aac encoder is the bomb in this field.

    I tested the codecs pretty extensivly and as they claim a well made 64k .aac sounds about as bad as a 128k mp3. A 192k .aac has to sound way nicer than a 128k .mp3. The ones I make bare this out anyway.

    The film-gimp as a finishing tool is usually used with 10 bit colour (can spell;). You would like to believe you are right but you are just blustering. Talk to someone in the film business pookie.

    Another half wit. There are so many. The hardware is his problem here. Get a slide scanner.

    As for the parent, I'm tired of these morons. Check film-gimp and who uses it. Check the blender usage in the industry and then have a look at the trends over the last few years.

    Linux after taking (with freeBSD) the rendering end of film making is fast taking over the production end of movies.

    As for photoshop-gimp, I've owned photoshop since 3.2 and I don't use it at all. Granted I don't do pantone exctera but the gimp does all I need for photos and some video hacks.

    It's a good old *nix macro kernel pooky. The drivers you need are compiled, for the most part, right into the kernel. Sooo you gonna need _all_ the drivers for _all_ the hardware linux supports.

    There are ways around this and they will prolly start to seperate some stuff by arcitechture but till then 36m is what it takes.
    Those that live on the bleeding edge just keep patching what they got and those are 1 - 3 meg usually.

    Over 120 mph you will experience wandering with a convential front end setup. The secret is NO toe-in. All the old time NASCAR racers ran thios way.
    It's a bit squirrly under 'bout 80 mph but all else being good it'll improve your high speed handling a lot.

    I run dosemu just to run Fractint. The original from Stone Soup is still by far the best. At version 20.0, not a typo.
