Thunderbird handles the mail (no ads) and it's used for e-mail that doesn't affect anything (storage space and spam, unfortunately). For all the important mail or ones that affect ads, I use the server I have access to.

Beating Microsoft shouldn't just be at having a larger market share - that is just propaganda and a "my browser is better than your browser" argument.

IE was only ahead because of the way it locked people into writing for the funny way it displays pages. When IE had 95% market share, web developers wrote for IE only. Now Firefox has 25% market share on some sites, web developers are writing for both browsers, at least. And when sites work the same in any browser, users can change browsers at will, without anything bad happening. Suddenly, Microsoft have lost the main thing that makes people keep IE.

And when is IE7 coming out? By the looks of it, sometime next year, which gives Firefox plenty of time to continue what it's doing. Firefox's being "poised to beat" Microsoft looks more likely than you'd think from looking at the market share stats.

IIRC, Opera's tabs were just an MDI interface in a single window, while Mozilla's tabs were a bar on each window, allowing for new windows and everything.
Likewise, Opera's popup blocker stopped all new windows from opening; when Mozilla 'stole' the feature they improved it so only popups launched when the page opens are blocked.

Microsoft, on the other hand, just takes other applications' features and does nothing to improve them. You would think, with their horde of programmers, that they would add something new and innovative to IE. They are even using Opera's old single-window popup blocking method, which is annoying enough to make everyone I know turn it off.

I am not annoyed that Microsoft is catching up with three years ago now, I am annoyed that it's caught up with three years ago and isn't even going to tiptoe any further.

Three years ago is 'good enough', I suppose?
