How long do you think it will take for the Wii novelty to wear off? Most of my friends and family that have a Wii have had it for 2 months or more and still play Wii sports at least a couple times a week. I've seen the same story from numerous people online. What I will agree is that there will be less "gimmick" games as we progress. Just like happened with the DS. It takes a few tries for most developers to really understand what the Wii is really about.

It's hard to say, but considering that most of the people still lining up the night before to get a Wii when shipments come in have already played the system and still want one, it's got to be more than hype.

The thing is that if Nintendo's strategy has any merit, they could sell almost NO consoles to the 10-25 age males and still totaly wipe the floor this round. "Gamers" probably make up what? 10-15% of the population? If you can get even 30% of the remaining population interested in your product you've opened a huge untapped market. Now add to this that we know large numbers of existing gamers ARE going to buy a Wii and it's looking pretty good. I'm not saying this means the 360/PS3 fail, just that there is a good chance the Wii will sell a lot more unless the system sucks when we all start playing it in person.

On the "siding with nintendo" comment. It was one of the lead Xbox 360 team said something to the effect of "We think a lot of households will own both a xbox 360 and a Nintendo Wii" implying that you could buy both systems for less than a PS3.

Apple Hasn't had a first foray into the mobile handset market. The only way they've been involved is lending their itunes software to run on motorola phones. They didnt' design any hardware, or the phone software. Only the itunes on the phone software the launches when you hit a button on the phone. And, as many have speculated, I believe there was some alterior motive in that move. At the same conference that the phone was announced, apple stomped all over the announcement with the intro of the Nano. Jobs knew the phones would be a flop, we just don't know what the whole strategy was yet.

I'll second GBPVR I've been using it for about a month and it has worked great. I especially like the ability to watch all my downloaded tv episodes/movies on the tv with a remote rather that having to watch on the computer.
