In fact, there's no perfect input except for those crazy fsking monkeys and their mechanical arms!
I'd cut my hand off for a neural interface, but... Perfect? Even better would be a computer that could travel in time to two minutes in the future, ask you what you want to do, then come back to the present right as you're thinking that you want to do it.
I was gonna tell you to shut the hell up, but I went back and read it again, and it does say at the bottom of the post: The Porco Rosso DVD will be out in April.
I'm a little confused by that, It's a Disney dub right? I don't know how much effort or cost goes into dubbing a foreign film, buy why would Disney do it just to show it once? Will it come out on DVD or something?
Final Fantasy I, on NES, was a blast: you chose characters, picked from a small selection of spells, and in general wandered wherever you wanted.
FF1 Had just a static plot as every other FF game. Less so, Most later FF's have lots of sidequests.
I stopped playing them at FF7: you had a bazillion choices on how to equip your character with crystals and things, but no choice on what to do next.
Here's the problem. A non-linear plotline seems like a great idea but in the end leads to hazy, confusing games. Witness Sqaure's Saga Frontier. A linear plotline allows for an involving storyline. Also, there's only so much time and resources developers can use to make a game. So your not going to get an involved non-linear storyline. It's like those 3 options pick 2 concepts. 1. coherent, engaging storyline 2. Non-linear story 3. Quality of semi-extranous details (graphics, sound, character art, etc.)
Firstly, the price just doesn't make sense to me for what basically amounts to two, eight-way joysticks and a kb driver. And why make them so big? The method of input seems like a decent idea, but not for primary kb usage. With mmorpg's coming out for consoles now, this would work pretty well for typing to eachother online without putting your controller down; the PS2 controller already looks like a smaller version of this thing with 8 extra buttons, but much smaller and fits in your hand.
First of all, the limitation because of a base station, really hurts it's image
I'm not so sure, When I'm programming I usually like a reasonably comfortable computer chair and a big desk; When I do my web browsing, im'ing and mp3 listening I use a computer that I set up next to my bed so that I can lay down while i'm doing it. Before I set this up I found myself going to watch tv on my comfortable couch instead. So much of my day to day entertainment comes from my computer that i'm lead to believe there's a real market for making computers more entertainment friendly. ie. being more comfortable while using them.
But a small dumb terminal, that looks and feels like a pda would be handy, I think the portable phone/usb base station is a pretty good idea, Would a pda that does all of it's processing on your desktop computer be a lot cheaper? I think a cheap zaurus-like pda would be a good trade of for range of use.
That's dumb, just look up! You'd need a space shuttle to get ther.... huh? Oh, yeah nevermind..... RTFA? I can't even be bothered to read the text below the headline!:)
I wonder if I can get someone else's Aibo to wander round looking up skirts, watching peoples banking passwords, etc etc
I'm sure anyone able to forge email headers are looking foward to this.
Somehow I doubt they'll be setup so that the pic's are told where to be sent in the e-mail, I guess you could fill up AIBO's mem card with pics though.
I don't understand what the big fuss is about dupes. I'm a fairly avid/. reader, but I usually only know it's a dupe because of all the complaints. It seems like there's enough of a readership that a duped story hasn't been seen by a bunch of people and the thread still ends up being populated with interesting posts.
You can get more processing power with the latter since it is cheaper (I would imagine even moreso with AMD) and easier to maintain. But not because it is inherently special or faster in any way.
Not to be inflamatory but, most user review sites that I've read are all but worthless except for getting a very general feeling of overall quality. I'm a big console RPG fan and even inside that genre people have widely differing opinions on the same game. In my experiance, a good reviewer will critique overall quality along with what type of person is going to like that game. (i.e. If you liked $game you'll like this $reviewed_game, type of stuff) So, when I read a review to find out whether I'll like the game or not I pretty much ignore their analysis of whether the game was enjoyable to them. I'm looking for an indication that the game would suit my tastes.
Either that or I find a reviewer who consistantly agrees with me (hint: read old reviews of games that you've played before) Slightly OT, I've found that I usually agree with The Filthy Critic's movie reviews.
Didn't Colonial England (American persuasion) win the revolution because they refused to fight within the bouds of war (standing in a straight line and shooting at eachother) ?

"if microsoft's future" ... "is as bright as Bill says, why are he and Steve divesting a billion dollars in the past month?"
To build a giant, life-size, chocolate pirate ship, obviously.

Says the teacher with the closed door policy. :)
people also IM a lot about things which require other (computer) actions.
Couldn't agree more

It is kinda handy having just the text of the article right in the thread, but how often does msnbc get /.ed??

"Lego has great computer-like qualities - it is a binary toy; everything is either connected to something or it's not.
:)
That's stretching it a bit, isn't it? I'm binary too, I'm on the toilet or I'm not. My car is dirty or it isn't. My binary armpits stink or not...
What was his point with that remark?
What do you call an empty seat on a bus full of spammers driving of a cliff? A missed opportunity.
Just out of curiousity(sp?), did you get a reply other than a form letter? (No sarcasm intended)

Umm... spandex, right?
One popular rebuttal to the possibility of time travel is always, "If it's possible, why don't we encounter time travelers?"
:)
But, what if we just never believe them when they tell us.
Excellent, Have that on my desk by Monday morning.
No, seriously, Do it!

Special? Hell yeah!
