Does it make more sense now?

... No? Why should it matter what monitor I use to see the same content? Whether through a web browser or through Boxee I'm still seeing the same content, the same ads, and over the same network. This breaks down to the content providers saying, "You can view my show through FireFox, IE, Safari, etc., but not through Boxee. The vowel/consonant ratio is a bit too high with that one.

Perhaps you missed part of my post. Here, let me quote it again for you:
"there are alternative methods of administering [vaccines] which would avoid the allergy."

Also, did you have any tests run to determine if your other children also have the same allergy? Even if there are no alternative administration methods, all of your children may not be affected. It'd be a shame to extrapolate from a single data point and apply the results to all of your decisions.

I wonder if they could include this profiling in an opt-in user service. Whereby large amounts of profile data could be collected from the users and build a better aggregate profile. Or perhaps this would provide too little return on investment as the new data would not significantly improve on the existing profile and would only add to the complexity of the software.

  7. Re:Whats next? on Court Rules Autism Not Caused By Childhood Vaccine · · Score: 1

You clearly have no idea how vaccines work. They'd get more dose and impact on their system from the common cold than is contained in those "dozens of different things". And you know what has also increased with the move away from vaccines? The spread of the diseases those vaccines protect against.

Also, a more developed immune system wouldn't have any impact on receiving the shots. Unless your child develops an allergy to the shot that will be given. The allergic reaction likely had nothing to do with the vaccinations, or if they did there are alternative methods of administering which would avoid the allergy.

I honestly hope none of your kids come into contact with a disease, that they would otherwise be immune to, before they've reached an age where they're "old enough" to receive the vaccine.

Language may change over time, but it seems these days that the new meaning is already represented by an existing expression and that the old meaning doesn't have a new or alternate expression. It's this loss of expression that drives me to correct people's writing and speaking.

The "new meaning" of "Begging the question" is already available as "Raising the question".

When you use words intelligently you'll find that your point is often much more clearly understood. Changing language in the means mentioned primarily distracts and confuses the intention of the speaker.

Some real nice attempts at "Argument from Authority" there.

So far it seems that the scientific consensus is that warming is real and likely to be contributed towards by human activity.

My favorite of your quotes is, "Many [scientists] are now searching for a way to back out quietly (from promoting warming fears), without having their professional careers ruined."
No real scientist needs to figure out how to do that. They would just say, "Ya know? I looked at the data again, existing and new, and I've changed my evaluation because of the following points: ...". And that's that. Anyone who's afraid to say "I was wrong" isn't a good scientist, or a scientist at all.

All I see in those quotes are buzzwords and alarmist phrasing targeted at grabbing headlines. There may be just as much of that on the other side as well, but you'll need to do better than a list of quotes to convince anyone, or me anyway.
