Yup. I browse NewEgg because their products are meticulously tagged and organized, and their reviewers are by and large much more knowledgeable than those on Amazon.
But I almost always buy on Amazon. Because of Prime.
This is actually a real concern of mine. More than once I drove through a yellow light I normally would have stopped at, just because I knew stopping would be a "hard stop." Their threshold for hard stops is very low: 7 mph/sec.
That's not how it works, actually. Progressive's Snapshot discount doesn't take speed into account at all.
The three things they look at are:
1) How often you drive (miles) 2) What time of day you drive 3) Number of hard stops
I noticed that driving with a Snapshot for 6 months I became a lot more careful of hard stops. I gave other cars more space and drove much more defensively, even though I'm a very defensive driver already.
I think it's safe to assume that an insurance company is interested in metrics that actually correlate well to safe driving, since their business literally depends on it. They want to give the discounts to people who are actually less likely to get into accidents.
Progressive isn't the government. They don't want to just look like they're doing something about a problem. Their bottom line actually depends on it.
Well I expect that the system has several Oracle DBs on the backend already. Remember that this site has to aggregate data from a whole bunch of different federal agencies. Assuming that the site interfaces with at least one Oracle db, having a couple of quality Oracle engineers on-site can do a lot to identify scalability problems, iron out bugs, reprogram things for efficiency, etc.
What are you talking about? Reddit is not publishing official police statements. They're trying to do their own investigation. Last time this happened it was a spectacular failure that implicated two innocent people. Reddit's management clearly does not want that happening again.
The police issued the statement to the press that they were looking for a black Nissan with that license plate. Fox News, a media outlet, published the statement. People with information on this Nissan should contact the police, not Reddit.
Playing the game is one thing. The kid wasn't arrested for playing the game.
Imagine you're a 15 year old high school kid. You just saw Newtown happen. You get a link in your email from a classmate and hit Youtube to see a video some other kid you don't know using this game to "shoot" you and a bunch of your friends in the hallways.
What do you think? How do you feel?
Playing the game and posting the video are two very different things. Posting videos of you "shooting" your classmates calls for some sort of action. That is messed up.
You are completely misinterpreting the post in a really bizarre way. Gay couples live as married couples whether they have the marriage certificate or not. No, they don't get the legal benefits if they're not married but I'm talking about *how they live*. Their personal lives.
You completely failed to understand my post, and given the other responses it's not the post's fault. Move on.
This is great. The majority opinion repeatedly makes the point that DOMA stepped on states' toes specifically to HARM a certain group, instead of help it, and that was unconstitutional. The US shouldn't be in the business of denying rights to citizens that states want them to have.
"DOMA’s avowed purpose and practical effect are to impose a disadvantage, a separate status, and so a stigma upon all who enter into same-sex marriages made lawful by the unquestioned authority of the states."
"When the State used its historic and essential authority to define the marital relation in this way, its role and its power in making the decision enhanced the recognition, dignity, and protection of the class in their own community. DOMA, because of its reach and extent, departs from this history and tradition of reliance on state law to define marriage"
"DOMA seeks to injure the very class New York seeks to protect. By doing so it violates basic due process and equal protection principles applicable to the Federal Government."
Anyway, this is great. People think that preventing gay marriage is somehow taking a stand against homosexuality or something. News flash: gay couples live as married couples whether you like it or not. The only thing banning the marriage certificate does is punish them for being gay, which is ridiculous beyond belief.
It's not because those games were just particularly amazing, well-written, and well-constructed. It's because those were the games that we grew up with. Those of us in their 30s and early 40s are the ones currently dominating the industry, and we grew up playing King's Quest IV and Monkey Island and Loom and X-Wing etc. We have a fondness for those now because we were kids and those games were the world to us.
Same reason most of us love Voltron and hate Power Rangers, even though they're damn near the same thing.
That's a terrible analogy. North Korea could pretty easily launch a nuclear weapon right into downtown Seoul and kill half a million people while launching a war that will kill a million more.
They're not a threat to the US mainland, no. But they're a huge threat to South Korea.
The biggest problem with cell phone cameras is that the pixels are small and not sensitive. HTC decided to go with fewer, bigger pixels that collect more light and are more sensitive. I'd much rather have a 4 MP picture with less grain and noise than an 8 MP picture with more grain and noise. After all, you only look at the pictures at around 2 MP max.
Little known fact: the President is actually the head of the executive branch of government, which contains agencies such as the ATF and DOJ. And since he's the head of those departments he can set policy for those departments within the confines of their legislation!
Suspect? You have no idea WTF you're talking about. I assume you're trolling.
This is not "shoehorning." The Surface Pro is a complete x86 computer in a tablet form factor. It runs Windows 8 - the exact same Windows 8 you get on a new desktop or laptop.

Lots of cars get 3 or 4 stars.

I got a 30% discount on one of my cars and an 8% on the other. This is a discount applied over the regular rate that I pay.
So..... it might not be 50%, but the answer to your question is "yeah, pretty much" instead of "crickets."

Great idea. You can pay for it.
Did these guys not have insurance? Why do they need donations?
Serious question.

The difference is they are the police. That is their job, they are professionals, they have training, and they are accountable.
Reddit users? None of those apply.

I am having trouble understanding your post. The parts you quoting appear basically unrelated to your responses.

That was an F-117, not a B-2.
I go to the gym and lift weights after work. On the weekends and some evenings I play tennis and racquetball or hike or ski.
I work at work. After work I exercise.
So... yeah. What do you do after work?

If you install no apps and turn data services off, an iPhone will last 4-5 days. I've done it.
That's the tradeoff.
