Yeah, Slashdot does look a lot like a blog to me. I suppose the main difference is that in most blogs I've read people know what they are talking about when they talk about it (e.g. about technology). But it seems that half the people here have no idea...

I think Disney animations are much better than Anime rubbish. If you think that Mickey Mouse is lame compared to pokemon then you must have something wrong with your head.

It would be horrifying if Disney were to start making animations that resembled Japanese Anime. That would be a step backwards in quality.

I think its lame when a cartoon (anime) repeats the same frames over and over again, when eyes only have two positions, and mouths three. And tha t only one character in a scene can move at any one time.

You seem a little angry there my friend.

It is very unproffessional to sell a product in another country with badly written documentation. If a company has not taken the time to get a proficient native speaker (most native speakers are very prone to creating errors), that may indicate that they have not taken the care to ensure the quality of their product either.

Saying that someone has bad English is not being rascist, it is telling the truth (if they do indeed have bad English).

And yes, having Engrish on products intended for the English market has plenty to do with lazy translators, and inferior education in the English language (though not neccesarily inferior education in other areas). What you said about the style icons is indeed true, however, these style icons are only appropriate if intended for (in particular) the Asian market.

And a lot of the "style icons" are not as benevolent as you think. A lot of them if translated directly into Chinese or Japanese would not mean anything bad. But because of a lot of colloquialist sayings, they actually mean bad things in English and I am sure that a lot of the time they do this on purpose.

English happens to be my third language, but I don't see myself distributing "Engrish" all throughout my writing, although my way of explaining myself may seem a little odd. But I believe that a lot of these people could have taken a little bit more effort into perfecting their English, and in the end, it does reflect on laziness.

Although I can write in Korean, I would never trust myself to actually use that in a professional situation as I know it is far from perfect. I would firstly make sure that I had learnt perfect grammar before proceeding to desecrate the name of my company with bad translations.

Before the UN did a single useful thing, the Americans, the Aussies, and even the Kiwis were in there doing what was actually needed. (distributing food/water/medicine, setting up shelter etc.)

Did Microsoft write the software controlling the airport? No. Now I don't like Microsoft one little iota, and I think they are an evil corporation and all that but I still don't believe in pointing the finger where it doesn't belong.

The people that wrote the software knew full well that it was going to be running on Microsoft computers. If they were good programmers (which obviously they weren't) they would have known about the counter roll-around (which is by design, not a bug)

Bad things don't happen with windows (except with the print service, and another one, neither of which would be critical to do with controlling which direction aeroplanes are flying in). And these problems are both fixed with latest patches anyway.

I don't recall telling you that you advocated linux for the job --> Continuous: I don't recall saying "bla" loop starts here.

MICROSOFT DID NOT WRITE the software.

It was the responsibility of the people using Microsofts counter for their timing in their code to handle the roll around of the timer. It's not difficult.

Windows DOES NOT crash after 49.7 days. We have had Windows Server computers at work running non-stop for years. I say we because it isn't my desision. Windows isn't a bad piece of software, but I don't condones its usage simply because of the price, and the company behind it.

Could you say that the Allied Forces in WWII were murderers? Should people just sit by as their country's get taken by foreign foes?

What about the German troops? Were they commiting murder? They were fighting for what was in their mind a just cause. Obviously Hitler was the murderer?
