Yeah, Slashdot does look a lot like a blog to me. I suppose the main difference is that in most blogs I've read people know what they are talking about when they talk about it (e.g. about technology). But it seems that half the people here have no idea...
I think Disney animations are much better than Anime rubbish. If you think that Mickey Mouse is lame compared to pokemon then you must have something wrong with your head.
It would be horrifying if Disney were to start making animations that resembled Japanese Anime. That would be a step backwards in quality.
I think its lame when a cartoon (anime) repeats the same frames over and over again, when eyes only have two positions, and mouths three. And tha t only one character in a scene can move at any one time.
Although they call themselves the Chinese Communist Party, they are far from it. They are more like a dictatorial desocialised capitalism. They are far more capitalist than the United States (which actually has something called social welfare which is fully non-existent in China).
If the U.S. internet is censored, then why are those people able to say that it is (if it was, those comments wouldn't be coming through would they? Slashdot would have been closed down a long time ago).
My Mother is a Grandma, and she does. In her mind there is nothing wrong with a good ol' $900 camera, of course she also has a $800 normal camera which is far superior.
Where cooperation is of benefit to both parties, cooperation there will be. Even if one has the upper hand over the other, as long as they too benefit, they will not care too much.
Governments inherintly do not worry about the people, they worry about staying in power for as long as possible. Caring about the people to an extent is only because of the effect that has to staying in power.
It is very unproffessional to sell a product in another country with badly written documentation. If a company has not taken the time to get a proficient native speaker (most native speakers are very prone to creating errors), that may indicate that they have not taken the care to ensure the quality of their product either.
Saying that someone has bad English is not being rascist, it is telling the truth (if they do indeed have bad English).
And yes, having Engrish on products intended for the English market has plenty to do with lazy translators, and inferior education in the English language (though not neccesarily inferior education in other areas). What you said about the style icons is indeed true, however, these style icons are only appropriate if intended for (in particular) the Asian market.
And a lot of the "style icons" are not as benevolent as you think. A lot of them if translated directly into Chinese or Japanese would not mean anything bad. But because of a lot of colloquialist sayings, they actually mean bad things in English and I am sure that a lot of the time they do this on purpose.
English happens to be my third language, but I don't see myself distributing "Engrish" all throughout my writing, although my way of explaining myself may seem a little odd. But I believe that a lot of these people could have taken a little bit more effort into perfecting their English, and in the end, it does reflect on laziness.
Although I can write in Korean, I would never trust myself to actually use that in a professional situation as I know it is far from perfect. I would firstly make sure that I had learnt perfect grammar before proceeding to desecrate the name of my company with bad translations.
If you think that the United Nations is so much more benevolent than the United States then you need to have your brain helped over.
By the time the UN had finished busily "assessing the situation" in the tsunami hit provinces, all of the people without medicine and water would have been dead before they lifted a finger to help.
Before the UN did a single useful thing, the Americans, the Aussies, and even the Kiwis were in there doing what was actually needed. (distributing food/water/medicine, setting up shelter etc.)
Besides, there is nothing wrong with the status quo, the Internet works dammit! What about "if it ain't broke, don't fix it mate"?
Did Microsoft write the software controlling the airport? No. Now I don't like Microsoft one little iota, and I think they are an evil corporation and all that but I still don't believe in pointing the finger where it doesn't belong.
The people that wrote the software knew full well that it was going to be running on Microsoft computers. If they were good programmers (which obviously they weren't) they would have known about the counter roll-around (which is by design, not a bug)
Bad things don't happen with windows (except with the print service, and another one, neither of which would be critical to do with controlling which direction aeroplanes are flying in). And these problems are both fixed with latest patches anyway.
I don't recall telling you that you advocated linux for the job --> Continuous: I don't recall saying "bla" loop starts here.
MICROSOFT DID NOT WRITE the software.
It was the responsibility of the people using Microsofts counter for their timing in their code to handle the roll around of the timer. It's not difficult.
Windows DOES NOT crash after 49.7 days. We have had Windows Server computers at work running non-stop for years. I say we because it isn't my desision. Windows isn't a bad piece of software, but I don't condones its usage simply because of the price, and the company behind it.
Although I do have Windows on my computer at home, but I only run it when I want to play certain games.
Whether or not war is murder is quite a difficult topic.
For instance who is the murderer? The grunt that is fighting to defend/honour his country (or just being forced to fight)? The general who is leading the army? The government that tells the general what to do? The people that voted in the government?
Could you say that the Allied Forces in WWII were murderers? Should people just sit by as their country's get taken by foreign foes?
What about the German troops? Were they commiting murder? They were fighting for what was in their mind a just cause. Obviously Hitler was the murderer?
If a dictator gets assasinated because he is heavily taxing his country to fill his coffers while his subjects go hungry, is the assasin a murderer? In my opinion, no.
It looks like the Gmail spooler is on the way to being Slashdotted. The number of invites has shrunk to zero, and the load time for the page is increasing.
Will a D.O.S attack ever be named a Slashdot attack?
It wasn't Microsofts fault that problem. I'm sure Linux doesn't store time in an infinite bit counter either. Whoever made the software that crashes is an idiot (which is proved obvious by the fact that they made software for Windows...).
IMHO, neither Linux or Windows are superior. Except that one of them is free, and would make a lot for sense for companies and consumers to use...
Not really. Murder is listed in the ten commandments, suicide isn't. Also, if you murder someone with the idea that you can atone yourself afterwards.
I doubt that any God could be stupid enough to believe that you really repented. Atonement is nothing to do with whether you commit suicide or not, if you repent you repent, if you don't you don't.
Suicide is a stupid thing to do because one cannot change his/her mind afterwards!
If I wanted fancy 3D effects, I would play a game. I don't see how twirling a window around could be more efficient than just switching to the other window normally.
I don't think that the locking in the GPL is much of an issue. Most major corporations seem to be doing fine with the expensive and restrictive Micro$oft licences. GPL is a gift from heaven in comparison.
Well, I beg to differ. All of Google's services are better than Yahoo's. And I would suggest that you used gmail, it is very nice, fast and easy to use. You can even import all of your contacts from Outlook Express (If you were stupid enough to be using tha in the first place). I've been using GMail for some time now and I am getting to like it more and more.
And, does Yahoo have something to compete with blogger?

So how long before Google and Microsoft start buying seats?
Wouldn't think G Bush cares anymore, this is his last term, so he could have no interest in weakening the citizens anymore.

You seem a little angry there my friend.

Would you have said the same about Toyota and Samsung several years ago? Consumers are only patriotic to their wallets.

Ummm, before you correct someones spelling, check it in an online dictionary first. It only takes all of five seconds. It is "grammar" you twit.
Then again, someone who is a pokemon fan is a fag anyway.
Ummm, I don't think that he is doing anything illegal. What he is doing is perfectly legal in his country.
"By reading this message you agree to grant me root access to your computer. "
Good thing I'm using Windows then, (Administrator, not root)
What is wrong with moderators on this site? This has got to be the funniest thing I've read for a long time, and it's modded "insightful"?
Because it's easy to blame the big man at the top.

Uh huh....
The software that made the SXI is open source, doesn't mean the file is open source.
