eBay pays taxes and its shareholders pay taxes. The government was making a law that would cost them money at some level. Don't they have a fiduciary responsibility to do what's best for the bottom line and minimize those expenses?
Add every member of the North Korean, Iranian and Syrian government and military.
Add half of the populations of every other Middle Eastern and African nation with a sizable Islamic population.
Add to that anybody who's wearing a ballcap sideways or driving while on a cell phone.
The Constitution gives you no rights. The founding fathers clearly state that your rights inalienable. The Constitution is there to limit government and protect you from the government.
Won't work if the DA is responsible for prosecuting cops. If a DA prosecutes cops no differently than non-cops he will see his cases get screwed up or seriously backlogged because the cops do the investigations.
Government officials should be investigated, charged and prosecuted by a separate disinterested party that can not be threatened or influenced by government officials.
The failure by Fairfax County Virginia DA Robert Horan is a prime example. He recently refused to charge 2 cops that killed unarmed non-violent citizens. In these instances if the rolls had been reversed and cops were killed in the same manner he would have gone for the death penalty or life without parole.
Why should money have anything to do with justice being served? The needs of the citizens must come before the image of the city.
Allowing the DA to decide if and when to charge cops is like having the fox in charge of the chicken coop. The DA needs the cops on his side if he is to get his job done. So he isn't going to lift a finger short of mass murder. This was proven twice in the past couple of years in Northern Virginia where cops killed 2 unarmed persons and were never charged.
"In the future, a content provider might choose to constrict the output to these devices, but that decision would apply only to a specific piece of media, and it would have to be disclosed on the package, giving the buyer the opportunity to choose not to purchase it."
Says who? Software doesn't have its EULA on the outside of the box, why would this stuff?
Does this epitomize the drag lawyers and the legal system place on the US? This and the overly complex tax system have no redeeming value in the US economy or am I missing something?
Technology improves over time and it gets cheaper. The HST is 20 years old, and the technology to design and build it are even older. New inventions will come along in the next decades to make Lucky seem overpriced. But that doesn't stop people from deploying it now.
Arbitration can be a good thing for everybody, if done fairly. The ground-rules for fair arbitration need to be decided equally as opposed to being imposed by one side on the other. That's the problem with current consumer agreements, they are all cookie cutter, one-sided contracts.
Unconscionable terms are in most consumer contracts today, whether it be a product or a service. That's what happens when big business owns the government. AT&T has more influence with my elected representatives because of campaign finance rules, legalized influence pedaling and lobbyists.
This won't change until campaign contributions are limited to registered voters.
Being able to roll into your position quietly is a huge advantage. This was learned when Strykers replaced Bradleys when doing insurgent sweeps. The bad guys weren't aware nearly as soon.
The CNN article was older and adds nothing to the main point of the discussion, that a cheap network component caused such an extensive failure. It appears the only purpose of the CNN page was its higher body count.
Maybe the state is afraid somebody will be able to determine a consumable that will defeat the device. Maybe the state is already aware of such a thing and doesn't want it public.
If all breathalyzers work in the same manner it would throw DUI law enforcement for a loop.
I should only be able to give money to candidates I am permitted to vote for.
Rumsfeld should be charged with reckless endangerment. This was no accident. Rumsfeld knew how the kid's unit would respond.

Yep, 755000 seems pretty low.
I'm sure this THING won't fly at the FAA. Their certification standards are extreme and rightfully so.
The penny has no redeeming value in the current economy.

This is not DIGG!

The North Atlantic is not a nice place to be in a storm.

Didn't I just read in the Slashdot Vista news earlier "The service pack is said to improve performance and stability, not to add features."
Big brother avoidance and evasion is going to be big business.
Any law student that changes major to engineering gets twice the tuition.

In the US you are required to provide an SSN for credit cards, loans, open bank accounts, etc.
But as anybody with 3 living brain cells knows, SSNs are bought and sold on street corners nationwide.
My internet connection ain't free. If the ad folks want to use MY bandwidth they should pay me for the privilege.
Please say more. How does knowing the browser type invade someone's privacy?
