Thats one of the things I hate about the music industry in general, no mater how old or how new a song/album is you probably going to pay the same amount. You can't tell me that "Just a Perfect Day" (bad heroin trip in Trainspotting) should cost the same as the osng that just won a grammy for best new shi... song.
Well, that was my interpretation of this article. They want all songs to now cost $1.49, with the extra 50 cents going straight to their pockets.
No, 80 F (26.7 C) is just above room temperature, like my A64 (currently 90 F / 32 C). Now, you must be thinking 80 C (176 F). That's more like an Intel running full tilt. They do get up around 70 C / 158 F
As some others have already stated, I use the review system at Newegg to look for specific problems with any piece of hardware. Hardware incompatabilities still exist, and it's nice to know if several people are having the same problem with similar hardware such as yourself.
Newegg has been a wonderful resource for me in terms of good prices (not always the best, but usually close), but in information on specific hardware problems that are not obviously going to be in the spec sheets.
Yes, I realize that this has the same effect of holding shift to prevent shit software from installing itself on my computer when I want to rip a CD that I own or watch a DVD that I own on my computer.
But then again, I found this information myself on the Microsoft website, and I don't give a rat's ass about the DMCA.
I find it best to disable CD or DVD autoplay in XP using either local group policy or, for an enterprise, an Active Directory group policy.
The local group policy editor method:
* Click Start
* Click Run
* Enter GPEDIT.MSC
Group Policy mmc will popup. On left panel:
* Double-click Computer Configuration to open submenu
* Double-click Administrative Templates to open submenu
* Double-click System to open submenu
* Double-click Turn autoplay off option which will be near the bottom of the list in the right panel.
The default is the Not configured . Set it to Enabled.
This will still allow Windows to regonize when new media is inserted and any icons will appear/update or whatever. You can still right click and choose autoplay, but no CDs or DVDs will autoplay upon insertion. You can also change the setting to do the same with all inserted drives to stop autoplay for usb drives and the like.
The best way I've found to make my box quieter is larger fans running at lower rpms. For instance, I have 3 120mm fans in my case, one on the front, one on the back, and one on the power supply. 120's are considerably quieter running at lower rpms than 90 or 80 mm case fans of the past while moving the same amount or even more air. Also, my A64 stock fan is 80 mm instead of the 60mm cpu fans of old.
The end result is the cpu fan running the loudest around 2500 - 3500 rpms, while the case and ps fans are almost inaudible at ~1800 and ~1000 rpms. I've also found that cheap off brand fans tend to be much louder than a better quality name brand fan.
Actually, the university I am working for has a WebCT Vista users group meeting every now and then with the local maintainers. The version of Vista we were using at the time didn't offically support Firefox (but will soon or already does) or JRE 1.5 (might support that too now) but that combination worked the fastest and best of any.
It was nice to see some of the less computer savy users suggest that everyone tell their students to use Firefox even before I could.
Anyone else find it interesing that the new "chart" has hydrogen lined up with the elements with a half filled outer shell (C, Si, etc.) rather than the elements with only one outer shell electron (Li, Na, K, etc.)?
and of course the best thing for someone who has an LG phone (or some sanyo or samsung phones) is this wonderful little app called BitPim. It will let you upload or download anything on the phone including the entire file system.
This is precisely what I was thinking. Most non techie people I haved talked to still have never heard of AMD. So, a large public antitrust suit like this might help them on several fronts.
It will be interesting to see how Intel responds to this. Normally, they don't ever acknowledge that AMD exists to keep the public unaware that there might be a choice.
For some reason, I'm getting an image of a charred barren hillside a few miles from the collector. A bunch of people are running around on fire. Oh, wait, that's a SimCity 2k screenshot. Nevermind.
I've had pretty service from Verizon DSL. The few times I did have trouble was caused by faulty lines outside of my apartment. Their service has been very reliable, although their tech support isn't the greatest.
My old roomate already has this. His computer starts up with the "What is thy bidding, my master" followed by one classic Eric Cartman quote "Hey, you get your bitch ass in the kitchen, and make me some pie!"
I have an issue with people who quote numbers of security notices and the like. They always seem to fail to mention the average severity of these notices or even the account for duplicates.
We see a large number of nitpick vulerabilities for open source because everyone can look at the source code and try to break it every which way. OTOH, finding exploits in IE is done by testers and hackers.
Regarding dupes, visiting Secunia shows many vulnerabilies for linux distros, but you see the same ones over and over again for each distrobution.
So while I agree that no software is perfect, and Firefox does have problems that arise from time to time, as does any software, I'll still be using the fox for my net browsing.
As for those testimonies in the article from people who can't get Firefox or Thunderbird working properly, wow. I've switched people's grandparents with no computer literacy with no problem. All I can say is that their system must be jacked up.
The US will switch to a free OS about the same time it adopts the metric system, which according to my 1980 something encyclopedia set, should be around 1990.

So they'll be about 80F?
Intel machines I'd assume...

see my other post and change the setting from only CD/DVD drives to all removable media.
For those with XP

My temps are all 32C, hard drives, cpu, and mb.
or the ever classic Windows CE ME NT

Vista? Brings back painfull memories from a different application, WebCT Vista. Oh, the horrors of the occursed name continue...

If it's a critical update, the update arrow in FF will be red.

Overall, I'd say 8.5 of 10.
"Generally the issue is one of familiarity -- people may be able to potentially patch Windows boxes faster because they have had a lot of practice."
So which side is this quote supporting?
[Yes | OK]
Or maybe I'll be able to purchase then entire series of DBZ in a small, compact 10 disk set!

Is it USB powered?
Imagine a dance party blocking your view of your Mario Bros. game (or whatever you like.) It adds to the challenge.
Wow... I didn't think I'd ever see that again. I had a high school teacher that made every class he taught watch it, that and "The Enemy Wind."
Come to think of it, I didn't ever want to see that again...
