If it makes you feel any better, I'm in Hong Kong, and all my stuff has American accounts so all that glorious DRM shit doesn't work. Yeah much to my amazement it doesn't work when you travel.
Nobody buys Oracle because they need a DB, and that sounds sexy. They buy Oracle because their application needs a database, and it either ONLY runs on Oracle, or is highly recommended to run on Oracle.
And then there is Oracle commerce which I see nobody mentioning. The backend of most businesses, which shockingly needs an Oracle database.
Got some random data you want to organize? have a budget? If so MSQL, otherwise MySQL. Have a real world app? Oracle.
we dont' do DST. It's so nice. Short time differences are the WORST to deal with. I'd rather deal with 12 hour time differences, then some 1-2 hour nonsense.
You forget the solution that is always 'sold' to people is that they need to buy something. If we gave a shit about the environment, the big ass ships would be nuclear, and people would instead fix their old cars as making new cars is far more damaging to the environment. But that doesn't sell, and the consumer needs something to buy in.
I'm always amazed how duped the 'smart' and general public is.
But they love buying new things, Bernays was a freaking genius.
and know what not to do. If anything Steve is the textbook example on how an MBA brought zero growth to Microsoft, and destroyed not only two biggest cash cows in history, Windows & Office, but doomed the company to failure by de-incentiving through MBA theory of the week games like bands, to constantly backdooring H1B1'ing the workforce.
I'm sure that'll work out well, like the current corse is.
I'd be nice if MS had just fragmented out so we could get VC and.net on other platforms, along with Office. But as it stands now, all the kids are doing Ruby and anything else that isn't MS so the languages division (MSDN) folks are going down, and with Linux owning the 'cloud' space, now they screwed up consumer windows, so the tables and phones are taking over.
Looking back from 1999 it's amazing that MS could fuck it up so badly.
come back out. It's interesting to compare the various ports of doom that have been released over the years.
Thanks for the hard work!
So it's the 'trade in your iPod for a Zune strategy'... got it.

and all those ~$100 tablets. If Microsoft didn't lower the cost of Windows to zero those would all be Android tablets.
and other sub $150 windows 8.1 tablets.

good news, we're never leaving Afghanistan. Enjoy your permanent war on terror for some stupid toxic batteries.
And couldn't freaking recline.
It was a 15 HOUR FLIGHT.
So yeah sucks ass, but forcing the plane to land because I'm pissed off (land where anyways?), that's just some grade A entitled bullshit.
Also I bet they were all 1-6 hour domestics.
amateurs.
Im somewhere between 0 and 0.
really? hidden documents?
big whoop.
But I know a scared population is an easy to control one.
that'll be abandoned in 2-3 years.
Just what we need, more fragmentation. And zero innovation.

Gates made Microsoft, but Balmer destroyed it.
did some rug get mitterated upon?
is full of crap, which is of course illegal in china. so the CCP can get MS to give them all my incriminating 'speech' because it's saved in the US?
Yeah this is going to be a 'good thing'.
where can you download one of these uh parties.?
no really, a decnet network for hobbiest, enthusiasts.
There are literally dozens of us!
what the DOJ failed to do.
the 'death' is what attracts people to the drugs.
Honestly it's more of a joke looking from the outside, enjoy your 'freedom'.
we run firewalls on the hypervisor a'la vGW. But a firewall won't stop people from doing stupid things, but it sure makes day to day annoying as shit.
staying the corse with fewer people.
I'm sure that'll work out well, like the current corse is.
