I always enjoyed Star Wars as a good vs. evil, but now I get this "let's give everyone a trophy" vibe from the story when it comes to characters like Rose Tico and I hear echos of political rallies I see in the news today. No hate on Rose Tico or the actress that portrayed her and was subsequently bullied for it or political views different from my own, but keep that shit the fuck out of the franchise I've loved for thirty years. I watch Star Wars to escape reality.
Was having a conversation at work and we were talking about fake news and misinformation in general being harmful to people. I expressed my concern at the idea of, and my surprise people weren't talking about it already, misinformation becoming a crime and it becoming a slippery slope to the end of freedom of speech. This sounds like the first step in that direction thanks to Mr. Fuckerberg and his creation.
Dragged and dropped some emails to a folder. They disappeared. Not in the trash. Not in the destination folder or original folder. No help from Apple. Microsoft was no help either.
Been using that and prefer it to Dropbox, however my team at work insists on using it even though we have a "bottomless" One Drive. Maybe this will get the team and, therefore, me away from it.
A company I worked for had an old HP server running Linux. It had an up time record of two years and they shut it down to replace the power supply. Of course now uptime has taken the backseat to updating software.
