I am a Christian, and I am just horrified that people would assert that fossils etc., were deliberately placed in the Earth by God to test our faith. While God does test Christians, this claim essentially says that God is trying to trick us.

It also demands that we can't trust any evidence we find about anything, because maybe that evidence is a trick too. In the past we didn't have this made up "science vs. religion" conflict.

I'm still not certain about the exact nature of the act of Creation, though I am dubious about the fossil evidence. The essential point is that God created the Universe and created all life on Earth. That's not to say how he did it is unimportant or that we shouldn't discuss such issues, just not as important to the Christian faith. (I might add that "faith" does not imply believing something without any evidence or in the face of contrary evidence).

I'm confused. Are you saying that all different religions are true? They contradict one another, so they can't be. Or are you saying that the multiplicity of beliefs means none of them are really true? Since truth does not depend on what people think, that does not make sense.

Why is it that some people can not accept that there are other beliefs out there? Why do they have to try any discredit anyone that disagrees?

If they are indeed trying to argue, then they are acknowledging that there are other beliefs, which makes your complaint that they do not odd.

In this sense, the GPL is viral. If you use any GPL code -- even a line -- in your program, you must GPL all the code in your program.

This statement isn't totally accurate. Copying a single line of code constitutes fair use, which the GPL has no authority over (since it only licenses, and doesn't restrict). Thus, you can copy a single line of code without being compelled to GPL your work. (And of course virality only applies if you distribute it.)
