And while there are provisions supposed to let those found innocent get their sample removed from the database, when have you ever known a gov't to turn loose of any hold it has over its people, once it gets a good grip?

That may not work out exactly to the Govts benefit. It could constitute illegal search and seizure, in which case the court case would be thrown out.

There's always the "Charge-Back" method, call your bank and tell them the charge was unauthorized.

The problem with EULA's is that they usually state something along the lines of "we can change this anytime we want without necessarily telling you".

Contracts typically require both parties to enter into a static contract. You never actually agreed to any contract after the first, even if you said you will.

Noone's put this to the test in court yet (as far as I know).

http://wipo.int/ is typically who you go through to resolve probelms with domains, however someone's name isn't really "intellectual property"

It also costs upwards of $2000 to start a dispute, which really isn't a problem for a Dem. or Rep. party member, however they would have a hard time proving a name is intellectual property.

As long as it's not libel (printed slander, aka lies) the domain owner should be fine, even if he does need a lawyer.

If you read http://www.newscientist.com/hottopics/environment/ it's quite obvious climatologists have no idea what the hell they're talking about as almost every article contains something about "this new information radically changes the way scientists think about xyz."

Don't get me wrong, we do need to stop burning fossil fuels, stop driving SUVs and shoot trash into the sun. Climatologist is still synonymous with quack in my book.

Why is the RIAA fighting P2P? Suing "pirates" for thousands is much more profitable, they may not have purchased your CD anyway which would only be a measly $25.

Perhaps they don't see that they are not taking losses in that they are not actually losing money, it's an opportunity cost.

I can only imagine they actually believe they are taking a loss. Just keep suing people, it makes better money.
