The standards of what's deemed newsworthy in the US are completely off. This case, a milestone in the RIAA's war against file-sharers, isn't newsworthy, but a pop-psychologist making blatantly erroneous statements out of ignorance is? Doesn't seem right.
Maxis may have gotten decapitated, but EA is still giving Will Wright their full support. We'll see the fruits of their labor when Spore finally comes out later this year.
And the real test to whether or not EA is going to stop screwing up their acquisitions will be the fate of Pandemic/BioWare. The jury's still out on that one.
Since you've presented no definition of "useless beurocratic [sic] waste" nor an argument to support why the DoE fits this definition, I'm not inclined to agree with you.
Well, you could take the principle behind the Etherkiller and apply it to SATA or USB or whatever your SSD's connection is. Sending 120 volts to your flash chips should quite literally toast them, right?
I must have missed the boat on this one in high school--I cited Britannica in most of my History papers, and Wikipedia a couple of times as well. I was never told "Don't cite an encyclopedia" or why encyclopedias aren't good sources. I did, of course, provide other sources as well.
My Computer Science undergrad curriculum doesn't have me writing any research papers, so perhaps I just haven't been exposed to college-level expectations of research papers, APs nonwithstanding. So, what exactly is wrong with citing an encyclopedia?
It was kind of nice having an ignoramus like Jack Thompson as a loud voice in favor of video game censorship. Nobody can take a lunatic like him seriously--he hurts his cause every time he opens his mouth.
Sad thing is, I don't think there's anybody else moronic enough to fill his shoes should he be disbarred/discredited. Does this mean that anti-game laws might actually pick up steam?
This comes with the territory of running an internet advertising service. Between accidental clicks and sites which 'farm' ad revenue, you stand to lose a chunk of money.
I'm replying to this because I mistakenly modded it down. I really think you're right on the money here. The Wii is becoming very appealing as its base of titles grows, allowing Nintendo to recover from their N64/GameCube mistakes.
Sure, invoke Godwin's Law in the third comment, you insensitive clod!
....why the hell would anybody want to infringe on their patents? It's a really horrible design and interface.
'Real' news indeed.

Amen. I for one welcome our new Connecticutian overlords...
Makes me proud to be from CT.

But if everybody knew runes they wouldn't be obscure, thus defeating the purpose....

Exactly. It's reverse ad hominem to think that being a mom justifies anything about her argument.
and I for one welcome our new FOSS overlords.
Don't you mean Photoshop Hero?
Doesn't sound so bad. Just set up a WinXP VMWare image and leave it idle for three months--and bam! Free coaster. Err, Vista.

I hope we won't be using hard drives in four years. Let's all pray for a breakthrough in solid-state storage.

Clean hard drives...untainted by the likes of Windows.
I just lost the game!
That's not a laptop, it's a desktop replacement.
Whoever modded you down must be new here.

I think that was in reference to the Korean players who sit and play Starcraft for 2-3 days without moving and die.
