Safari a replacement for FF? I don't think so. The second I got my mac, I loaded up Safari, expecting some revolution in browsing, a high quality app like GarageBand or something. Sure, it's better than IE, but its meh. First thing I did was download FF (which I then used to download X11 and all that fine stuff.) Safari doesn't support all the cool extensions FF has, like adblock and gmail notifier and slashfix (haha jk about that last one.)

Safari is like, a lite weight browser, it just doesn't feel as good as FF. Oh and the combined stop/refresh button sucks. What the fuck. All the buttons are little pods, which goes against Apple's own HID standards (every button should have a distinct shape)

You can't honestly tell me that list doesn't excite you in the least bit? Also, those are only some of the 1st party games (with two 3rd) that are coming out this fall. The future is looking good for the DS.

we will soon be seeing characters that are assembled from skeleton, to muscle and tissue with clothing on top.
Erm, what the fuck? We will also have FTL travel to other planets in about ten years, and timetravel will be passe by then. Actually building a model that detailed wouldn't serve any purpose but to slow down whatever super computer (and I mean super-super-duper computer, with a few extra RAM upgrades) is running your game. Bones? Sure, they already do that to some extent (skeletal animation, maybe not what he's thinking but oh well) muscle and tissue? What good does that do? Honestly, that doesn't make the games any more realistic at all. Clothes on top of the models 'skin'? That can be done now, but it's too hard on physics to do in real time, and doesn't really do any good (unless you want clothes blowing in the wind, in which case there are plenty of ways to fake it, or use 'tight' clothes that are just textures over the model)

Most people don't understand how much of video games, especially physics, is faked. As long as the eye can't tell the difference, then who cares if that collision was off by 0.0001 degrees? You'll never ever see anything dumb like models being 'assembled from skeleton to musicle and tissue with clothing on top', because that serves absolutly no purpose for the speed hit it would take on such a supercomputer, and doesn't make any noticable difference to the viewer (except the clothing one)

Now, if by 'assembled' you meant in the literal sense, like taking a dead human body, inserting it into my computer to make bad guys for Doom 147, then you have a sick sick mind :)

Maybe it's because the games they played, all the coin-ops etc, were innocent. They may hear a games rated M for Mature, but it might not register that yes, their son (because of course girls dont play video games) is going to be killing hookers, stealing cars, killing police and having pixellated sex.

I'm not saying that kids shouldn't be allowed to play those games or anything (personally I think its harmless, if a kid is going to grow up to kill hookers, then if its not video games influencing him, its movies. or tv. or books. All else failing, the voices in his head) but maybe this is why parents don't care?

Dude, you can't tell that the source is the same by running a program, shut up. Especially since this is talking about Linux, a fucking KERNEL. Linux isn't the apps. Most 'Linux' distro's use the GNU suite of apps. Also, "some dude sitting at his computer" doesn't have sco's unixware installed. And that bit about Microsoft stealing source - I'm sorry, I love hating on Microsoft, but that just shows how much of an idiot you are. If your talking about the code they took from BSD, that was perfectly legal and morally fine, since it was under the BSD license, which permits it.

I wouldn't be so sure of the power of the Revolution (er, that sounds weird.) Nintendo has never exactly played up their tech specs that much. For example, the gamecube. It's definantly more powerful than the PS2 (except at flat polygon count, which is pretty irrelevant) and actually in most cases is better than the xbox. While the xbox has bigger numbers, a higher clock speed, the gamecube is designed much better. For example, the xbox uses shared RAM. The gamecube uses very fast 1T-SRAM (although only 24mb of it), their ppc cpu proforms better / mhz than xbox's intel x86 one (although not as much a gap as the ppc mac zealots may say :) ) actually I don't feel like listing off stuff, you get the idea. That's why you get games like metroid prime, RE4, rebel strike etc looking so good. However, the xbox has much better support for shaders. Anyways...

The point is, Nintendo isn't going to pack an gamecube up in a new shiny black box and call it a Revolution.

If it launches 3Q 2006 it could be somewhat less powerful than the Xbox 360
Quite the opposite. If it launches almost a year later, then prices of hardware will have dropped, and new technologies will have arrived, so I would assume they would take advantage of this and make it much more powerful to make up for the time loss. Also, no date has been set yet, last I heard, sometime around E3, was spring 2006 (iwata?)
