Your analogy doesn't really work properly. What the article suggests is that Alice can't compete with Bob because, despite the fact that Alice can answer the questions just as well or better than Bob, Bob got armor with +100 wrong answer resistance from playing all night long.
who said tivo was necessary? it is most definitely, by any definition, a luxury. not to mention tivo was out before xbmc and xbmc is not something you can really compare to tivo.
Check out Cingular's EDGE. If you can take full advantage of EDGE, you will be able to comfortably surf the web at the speeds you expect of broadband... at leas that's my experience.

Nvidia didn't release SLI for the 'onboard video' market, they did it for the people who drop 300 - 500 bucks on a video card. Also, just because SLI is available right now, I think it's real usefulness will be seen when the next generation of video cards are released. The card you have now will drop in price and you've got an upgrade path that would not be available if it wasn't for SLI.
i've found wolfenstein:enemy territory to be the absolute best lan first person shooter... and what's better is that it's totally free. you can download it off www.splashdamage.com
nice one

breaking and entering if you're given the key to the lock? it sounds like the school taped the key to the bottom of the laptop.

not that i don't agree with you... but in my experience it's way easier to hurt myself than it is to make myself better.
