The Apple fans will always blindly support and back the Apple position.
I am an Apple fan. I think Apple have made a great product in the iPhone and Macbook, but certainly they could make them better. As an iphone developer, there are parts that annoy me, some of them I understand why they do it (the approval process), some of the baffle me (UIWebview ratings, modifying the camera view).
I don't use this feature, I understand why Apple wouldn't allow it, but think they are wrong. But heh, they run this huge company, have loads of resource, and have produced the 2 best UIs in the iPhone and Mac OS X, so I am willing to bet they may have done some research.
Of course, maybe they are worried about Google, or punishing it for android/ new OS.
There are plenty of people out there who are idiotic towards Apple, hate them with a passion, usually think they only offer style over substance, and proclaim to not understand why people like the iphone when their phone has had these features for years. There are stupid people everywhere.
Microsoft want to get into the internet big time. They have a lot of services, but aren't very popular.
Now they can increase their popularity by making a better product (though this isn't guaranteed), or by leveraging their huge OS market share. They seem to be doing both.
Yes, good point. Because it doesn't work in EVERY SINGLE SITUATION (car parts), then you should never apply it. What don't you people get, MS is doing this because the alternative is a huge fine. They don't want a huge fine, they want to do business in Europe. They have broken the law a number of times. And they aren't being allowed to control the internet as they have done in the past, simply because they have a monopoly in OS's.
It is fine for these people, the problem is when you get people with a little bit, and want to install their own programs, or they need something for work. This is where it will make people unhappy.
The good thing is though as we move to more web based apps, we need less propriety programs.
Yeah, sure. XP runs like a champ, 8 years after it was first released, on hardware about 10x the speed it was written for. So yeah, XP runs pretty good, so would Amiga OS on your current computer.
Yeah, I mean why can't they have people to go around to everybodies house and find out how much they spend on their machine, that is doable, right?
Fuck you people are stupid. No statistic is perfect, just like all the whingers who get upset about the firefox downloads. You clearly have never been involved in actually gathering real data, or you would have a better idea of how hard it is, and you use the reliable data you can get.
First of all, many people here might do that, but in the real world not many people would.
The statistic is a good as it is, there are a lot of places it is very hard to capture this sort of data, so those cases are skipped. That is why it is only good to compare this statistic to itself, and see the change over time.
They haven't abused their monopoly with the ipod, this is the important distinction. You can get music from elsewhere, and put it on your ipod. if they stopped this, then I would expect some problems. Microsoft does the equivalent all the time.
The problem is when we have this regulation, but other countries don't. It is all part of living in a global economy. If you hobble your own companies, then global companies grow bigger and the dominate.
Agree 100%. Somebody who doesn't use Saas or web services must work in a very tiny, cut off field of IT. I use it every day, and have for many years. And not just in grid computing, but in almost everything, including mobile programming.

Is that right? Or maybe the only reason is that you haven't got into a fight with anyone with a decent airforce, like maybe Russia?? I mean, that is a good idea and all, but don't pretend it is because you are better than everyone else. Just those you pick a fight with.
Come on, there can't be that many changes in the core, or it would be a new version number. Microsofts version numbers aren't a superstition you realise, they are based on some sort of logic.
What a load of bullshit, you people are constantly trying to defend this shit. It is no different here from 2000->XP, a new shitty theme, and some underlying changes. Woop de fucking do.
You guys are really trying hard to sell this, almost desperate, trying to convince us that this is no Vista. Yet you won't acknowledge that Vista is so shitty. Funny that.
No department would spend money to help another department, it makes no sense for them to do so. Unless there is a directive from higher up, they won't and shouldn't do it.
Why do you keep saying this? They don't care, it switched on, something comes on the screen, it works and they can sell it. The person who buys it is probably a little more savvy, and will install windows on it.
This is in no way bricked, it is perfectly useable.
He put in javascript so it is easier to read. You press the bottom of the screen, and it scrolls down, you press the top and it scrolls up. Maybe you press twice to get back to the menu. You want an easy way to read, and it is easier doing it this way then swiping with your finger 1000s of times. Well, at least he thinks so.
Yes, but you don't have the marketplace that Apple gives you. You get an amazing set of tools, and an established market place with a huge base of people who aren't afraid to buy stuff. Apple makes it very easy for developers and consumers, something that nobody figured out before then.
And you can get anything you want on the iphone, you just need to jailbreak, as many people have done. Sure, it is a pain in the ass, but so is getting stuff on those devices. (except for windows mobile).
Make sure you click on every story that doesn't involve you, and inform us of how it doesn't relate to you. I find that comments like yours really add to the discussion.
There are 100s of stories of the successful app, what does it say about you that you haven't read any? I one of the 100,000 iphone developers, and I enjoy reading the good stories much more than the day. Mainly because I already now what the bad stories will say, I have lived through it.
I too have found this process annoying. Apples now ruling on UIWebView is ridiculous. I tried to work with them on not allowing any links to work, and they weren't happy enough with that, I still need to give it maximum rating.
But the most frustrating aspect is having no communication with customers. A customer spots a bug, leaves a review that is it. You can fix it, but there is no way to get in touch with that customer, or leave a reply saying you have fixed it. There is even no message that a customer has left a review, you have to trawl through all your apps for reviews every so often, or you will never find out about this.
It is a great system, I will keep producing apps because of this, but it certainly could be better.
I wish I had a blackberry or Android, then I could sell them on ebay and buy more great apps for my iphone. I think that was the posters point?

No, it is partly because nobody knows about it. A lot of people think there is Windows and that is it, a few even know about Apple.
And anyway, this isn't about changing the world, it is more about pissing of Microsoft weenies such as yourself.
Yeah, I mean why can't they have people to go around to everybodies house and find out how much they spend on their machine, that is doable, right?

Why does it worry me that that was modded +5 INFORMATIVE!
Because his hot pockets were indeed done. It was very informative, as we were all sitting here wondering when they would be done.

So where do you think this money would go if not spend on the f22 program?? Under congress' mattress?

You don't even know what phonegap is, do you?
And any app, I can add some code in to change functionality by pulling in data from a website, which is perfectly legal.
