    Most people would be happy with this, less criminals, and the occasional party broken up.

    You can fight this, but you can't win. The world changes, has been changing for the last 200 years. Your kids are getting used to this, and think nothing of it. Just as there are many things you put up with, and your parents never would.

    Just make sure you are one of the ones giving out the soma, rather than forced to take it. This is all you can do.

    Why would you mention other people apps, which have nothing to do with your own, in your description?? It is to turn up in as many searches as possible. This is deceptive marketing.

    Microsoft hold a 100% monopoly on their OS, just as Sony hold a 100% monopoly on their computers. You definition os monopoly is as fucked as your brain is.

    The market is for PC OS, Microsoft >90%, Apple around 5%, and everyone else the rest. If you can't see this as a Monopoly, then maybe you should do more reading and less actual typing.

    Every-time this gets mentioned, there are a bunch of people who feel the need to explain there concerns. It is almost as if MS is paying people to plant doubt and lies into their minds.

    There is always a compromise, and that sounds like a good category for IM clients, it is exactly what they are.

    This guy, Kahlid Shaikh has 94 pages of apps, all of them complete rubbish. That is over 1488 absolute rubbish apps. He has a couple of people in Pakistan who push new ones out every day, they either display an rss feed, or a simple picture.

    Wow, if you are working in the developing world then this is a joke. I get that you are probably not, no company in the US would be that stupid. In the developing world, cost of hardware can be greater than programmers, so I can understand the problem.

    If there are people in the US working like this, then it is their own fault.

    Why? XP Still works. Sure, if you are going to buy a new computer, you pretty much have no choice, since there won't be drivers for XP (unless you get an IBM). There is no way I will installing a copy of 7 over XP.

    Personally, it's the small things that Microsoft has done differently that I see as real change. The recent ECMA standardization and community promise surrounding CLI and C# for one. While not perfect, it's an important step. Supporting more community standards (albeit questionable) in IE8 has also been a tremendous step in my mind.

    Notice the qualifies you have to use, when describing anything the Microsoft does that is good. Promises mean nothing in the business world, especially Microsoft promises (have you learn nothing from the OS announcements?). And MS have supported standards before when it has suited them, only to break them later.

    What a joke. Explorer doesn't use different processes, ever noticed how when it crashes, you lose all your windows. And does Microsoft use different processes for each doc in Word, Excel, etc... No.
